这么看来，其实这种纯语气词不是非常实用，而且很容易因为语气不同而表达出不太一样的意思。

所以接下来我们就介绍一些相对比较实用的表达方法来填充对话空白，给自己一点思考的时间。

最简单的“好吧”/“嗯…”，可以使用在各种情况下。

①当你被问问题时：

A：Hey, how was your last assignment?

A: 嘿，你上个作业怎么样呀？

B: Well, it wasn't great, but I figured out where went wrong after the tutorial.

B：嗯…我做的不是特别好，但是上完课之后我搞懂哪里没做对了。

②当你被寻求意见时：

A: Should we go to the park tomorrow?

A: 要不我们明天去公园吧？

B: Well, that sounds good, but have you checked the weather forecast yet?

B：听起来不错呀，但是你查天气预报了没？

有时候well不需要被翻译出来，因为它也有着和语气词相似的功能。

这是个有意思的问题/这是个好问题。

A: Hi Professor, my name is Xiaohei from Baihua university. How should we balance economic development and preservation of our planet?

A: 教授您好，我是来自百花大学的小黑。请问您觉得我们该怎么平衡经济发展和地球的保护工作呢？

B: That's a really good question. As I said, it is difficult to balance both objectives if the policymakers have little knowledge in either field ....

B: 这是个好问题！像我刚刚说的，如果决策人或者政策制定人对这两个方面的任何之一有不够了解之处，要平衡这两个目标都非常困难…

这个句子的出现频率爆表，尤其是在各种讲座结束后的Q&A环节。

主讲人一时不知道该怎么回答时就会说这个句子，给自己一点时间思考，然后作答。

但是这里我们还需要注意的是老外的interesting和我们理解的“有意思”很多情况下都不是一个意思。

有时候他可能觉得这个问题很刁钻，或者偏题都有可能使用interesting来形容，不一定是他觉得你的问题“有意思”。

I haven't really thought about it.

我还从来没有想过这个诶。

一时不知道该怎么回答就可以这样回答对方。

A: Do you know what you want to do after you graduate?

A:你知道你毕业后想干什么吗？

B: Oh, I've never really thought about it, but I guess I'll start by trying some internships?

B: 啊，这个我还没想过诶，我大概会先尝试做几个实习吧。

如果对方的问题是类似寻求认可的，你还可以说

I've never thought about it that way.

我还从来没这样想过。

A: Don't you think working is so much better than studying in school?

A：你不觉得工作比在学校学习好多了吗？

B: I've never thought about it that way, but I guess everyone has their preferences.

B：我还从来没这么想过诶，但是大概大家都有各自的喜好吧。

除了这些说法，你也可以诚实地告诉对方你想多要一点时间来思考。

Let me think./Let me think about it.

让我想想。

A: What do you want to have for dinner?

A: 你晚上想吃什么呀？

B: Let me think.

B: 让我先想想。

Give me one second.

让我想想。（字面意思：给我一秒）

这个表达基本可以和Let me think about it替换，使用率也是相当高的。

A：Which one do you think fit me better? The yellow one? The red one?

A: 你觉得哪一件更适合我？黄色的？还是红色的？

B: Give me one second. Let me compare them in my head.

B: 让我想想，让我在脑袋里比较一下。

I guess/ I suppose...

我觉得……

这个表达其实在之前的例句里已经出现过了，这和我们惯用的I think是同样的意思，只是更进阶一点。同样可以先说出来给自己争取一点思考的时间。

A: Why is this person taking so long?

A: 这个人怎么这么慢啊？

B: I guess he's probably stuck in traffic?

B: 我猜他可能路上堵车了吧。

这里的I guess 是字面上的“我猜”的意思。

A: Should we go to the park tomorrow or just spend the time at home?

A: 我们明天去公园还是待在家里？

B: I guess we should stay home since it's forecasted to rain tomorrow.

B: 我觉得我们该待在家里，因为天气预报说明天下雨。

这里的I guess 就是“我觉得”的意思啦。
