风靡全网的“螺蛳粉”英文怎么说?没你想的那么简单!

众所周知,螺蛳粉是广西壮族自治区柳州市的小吃米粉,具有辣、爽、鲜、酸、烫的独特风味。是柳州最具地方特色的名小吃。螺蛳粉的味美还因为它有着独特的汤料。

近几年,柳州螺蛳粉已经正式走出国门,开始在海外市场上探索尝试。喜人的是螺蛳粉受到了许多外国朋友的喜欢,出口量也是持续走高。

随着螺蛳粉越来越国际化,它也有了正规的英文名。不过,在网上有柳州人民表示不知道螺蛳粉的英文名后,一众网友可以说是脑洞大开,“秀起来了”。

某豆瓣小组就掀起了关于“how to say 螺蛳粉 in english”的讨论,可以看到最赞回复亮了,没错,一位网友将螺蛳粉翻译成了“Russian fan without e”,乍一看似乎让人摸不清头脑......

这个翻译普大咔咔思考良久后终于懂了。Russia fan without e,原来是指“俄罗斯粉没有俄”,就是“罗斯粉”,换言之就是螺蛳粉,简直就是逻辑鬼才。

在微博评论里, 有个高达近10000赞的回复是——Rose Pink,可以说完美的把音译和意译利用到了极致。图里也有网友解释了,Rose=罗斯,Pink=粉色,连起来就是螺蛳粉,该翻译看上去可谓是没有任何破绽。

微博上也有网友直接去找百度翻译求助了,结果将“螺蛳粉”翻译成了“Lion powder”,所以意思是螺蛳粉=狮子+面粉吗?等等,这位网友还把螺蛳粉的“蛳”打成了“狮”......

还有网友发微信朋友圈,表示有厂家起名是Marvelous Fen(了不起的粉),仔细一看才知道是MALALUOSIFEN,原来是麻辣螺蛳粉的汉语拼音......

螺蛳粉=Lots of fun,听起来还挺像那么回事儿的。这也从侧面反映了老外越来越喜欢吃螺蛳粉了。

好了,这些神翻译我们看看乐呵乐呵就行啦。言归正传,“螺蛳粉”其实有它的官方英译名。2015年,在《柳州螺蛳粉地方标准》、《预包装柳州螺蛳粉地方标准》的第三次修正稿中规定将螺蛳粉的官方英文名定为:

Liuzhou river snails rice noodle

snail:[sneɪl] n. 蜗牛

rice noodle 米粉

“螺蛳粉”的配料是最重要的,里面的配料用英语怎么说呢?

酸笋 Sour Bamboo Shoot

木耳 wood ear或tree ear

油炸花生米 fried peanuts

油炸腐竹 fried dried beancurd sticks

酸豆角 sour long beans

另外,还有一种说法,就是“Stinky rice noodles”,意思就是“(发出臭味)的粉”,可以用来代指螺蛳粉。
