1. 舒适;舒服If you are doing something in comfort, you are physically relaxed and contented, and are not feeling any pain or other unpleasant sensations.

e.g. This will enable the audience to sit in comfort while watching the shows...这样能够让观众舒舒服服地坐着看表演。e.g. The shoe has padding around the collar, heel and tongue for added comfort.鞋子的鞋帮、鞋跟和鞋舌部位都有衬垫，以增加舒适度。

2. 舒适的生活方式;安逸Comfort is a style of life in which you have enough money to have everything you need.

e.g. Surely there is some way of ordering our busy lives so that we can live in comfort and find spiritual harmony too.总会有办法能安排好我们忙碌的生活，这样就能过得舒服一点，同时还能达到内心的平静。

3. 安慰;慰藉Comfort is what you feel when worries or unhappiness stop.

e.g. He welcomed the truce, but pointed out it was of little comfort to families spending Christmas without a loved one...他欣然接受休战，但是指出，那些无法和心爱的人一起过圣诞的家庭并不会由此感到慰藉。e.g. He will be able to take some comfort from inflation figures due on Friday...预定星期五发布的通货膨胀数字将会给他一些宽慰。

4. 令人感到安慰的人(或事物)If you refer to a person, thing, or idea as a comfort, you mean that it helps you to stop worrying or makes you feel less unhappy.

e.g. At least he has given her a child who will be a great comfort to her in the years ahead...至少他留给她一个孩子，这孩子在未来的岁月里对她将是莫大的安慰。e.g. It's a comfort talking to you...跟你聊一聊我好受多了。

5. 安慰;抚慰If you comfort someone, you make them feel less worried, unhappy, or upset, for example by saying kind things to them.

e.g. Ned put his arm around her, trying to comfort her.内德搂着她，想安慰她。

6. 使生活舒适的东西Comforts are things which make your life easier and more pleasant, such as electrical devices you have in your home.

e.g. She enjoys the material comforts married life has brought her...她喜欢婚姻生活带给她的物质享受。e.g. Electricity provides us with warmth and light and all our modern home comforts...电给我们带来了温暖和照明，以及一切现代家庭舒适品。

7. 因太…而令人担忧If you say that something is, for example, too close for comfort, you mean you are worried because it is closer than you would like it to be.

e.g. The bombs fell in the sea, many too close for comfort...这些炸弹落入海中，很多离岸边太近，令人担忧。e.g. Although crimes against visitors were falling, the levels of crime were still too high for comfort.尽管针对游客的犯罪活动有所减少，但犯罪率还是太高，令人担忧。
