街头标语“禁止‘被禁止’”

外省城市也发生了骚动。随后，运动扩大到110万的工人群体，这在当时法国总人口中占了22%。五月风暴维持了两周，那是法国历史上最大规模的罢工，也是首次全国性的“野猫”式罢工（事先没有警告的且常没有工会支持的闪电式罢工）。

五月风暴在官方的镇压中结束，但在这场席卷法国的学生运动中，也诞生了另一场影像到艺术、电影、音乐和街头美学的运动。五月的风波是法国在文化、社会机制以及道德准则等领域上开始迈向新生的开端。

学生们上街游行的目的其实很简单：为了表达，为了自由，为了联系在一起，为了感受年轻，为了活着的感受。相比起其政治性，五月风暴更是一场社会文化运动。数十年过去，当时由年轻大学生设计的一系列抗争海报体现了他们先锋的态度，而他们口号也是反陈规的诗学，在街头诞生，在街头留存。
