Caboom is a vintage 1970s-era toy, inspired by Canada’s greatest stuntman. Perched atop his powerful Caboom stunt-bike, Duke flashes off his stunt poses with confidence and swagger, but he has one itsy-bitsy problem: he can’t actually do the stunts advertised by his own commercial. Weighed down by the failures of his past, he has some serious identity issues when he encounters Woody (Tom Hanks) at an antique store.

“The first time [director] Josh [Cooley] and I talked with Keanu about the role, Keanu became Duke Caboom,” says producer Jonas Rivera. “Keanu was asking great questions that dug deep to find the soul of the character. At one point he stood up on the table in the middle of Pixar’s atrium and struck poses while proclaiming victory. It was so funny. It’s all in the movie and it’s all Keanu.”

Reeves is the latest addition to the Toy Story 4 voice cast and joins other new characters including Christina Hendricks as Gabby Gabby, Ally Maki as Giggle McDimples, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as Ducky and Bunny and Tony Hale as Forky, a homemade toy suffering an existential crisis (“I was made for soup, salad, maybe chili — and then the trash!,” he laments in the new trailer).

The film will also welcome back Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), Joan Cusack (Jessie), John Ratzenberger (Hamm), Blake Clark (Slinky Dog), Wallace Shawn (Rex), Estelle Harris (Mrs. Potato Head), the late Don Rickles (Mr. Potato Head) and Annie Potts (Bo Peep).

In the latest trailer, we see Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang going on a road trip with their new owner Bonnie and her beloved new toy Forky. When Woody and Forky become unexpectedly separated from the group, he encounters Bo Peep again and gets a glimpse of what life for a toy could really be like.

In an interview late last year, Hanks hinted that the ending for Toy Story 4 is one of the series’ most emotional and “impactful.”

“When I realized what they were going for, I realized, oh, this is a moment in history,” Hanks said in an interview on the U.K.’s Chris Evans Breakfast Show. “The emotional range of the movies has become more and more deep and profound and affecting.”

In a separate interview, Allen warned fans they better have tissue ready at the end.

“It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled,” he said during an appearance on The Talk. “I couldn’t even get through the last scene.”
