With the new DJI Smart Controllers has DJI Innovations as part of the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 (CES 2019) introduced a new flight remote control for camera drones such as DJI Mavic 2 Pro, DJI Mavic 2 Zoom, DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise and DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual. The remote control has an ultra-bright, 5.5 inches huge HD screen and therefore enables an even more intuitive flight experience. The DJI Smart Controller is an alternative remote control for current Mavic models. The remote control is integrated with all Mavic 2 models OcuSync 2.0transmission system and can therefore be used in combination with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and DJI Mavic 2 Zoom as well as the Enterprise models DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise (M2E) and DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual (M2ED).

Compared to the conventional and previously known remote controls of the Mavic drones, the new DJI Smart Controller differs in that it has an integrated display, so that you don’t have to use your own smartphone. The DJI Smart Controller is compatible with Mavic models that have the latest OcuSync 2.0 transmission system. Due to the automatic switching between the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency bands, the remote control is particularly insensitive to interference. The range between the remote control and the Mavic model or OcuSync 2.0 transmitter is up to eight kilometers (FCC area). Visually, the remote control is largely the same as the well-known Mavic remote control – but the foldable holding mechanism for smartphones is replaced by the screen. The joysticks of the remote control are detachable, so that a practicable transport is guaranteed. The DJI Smart Controller has an operating range in temperatures between -20 °C and +40 °C, which means that drone operations with HD transmission should be possible almost anywhere. The battery of the DJI Smart Controller has a capacity of 5,000 mAh and supports a quick charge function (Quick Charging). According to DJI, the runtime of the remote control is up to 2.5 hours.

With the new Smart remote control for Mavic models, all sorts of new functionalities make their debut. With “Go Share”, for example, photos and videos can be exchanged wirelessly between the remote control and a mobile device. All you have to do is install the DJI GO 4 app on a smartphone (iOS or Android). The remote control itself is equipped with a specially adapted Android operating system and has an optimized DJI GO 4 app. With the help of the remote control, image and video recordings of the drone can be edited and shared on social networks.

And thanks to the built-in loudspeaker, the recorded data can be played back directly with sound. The built-in microphones can be used to record the user’s ambient noise and comments – DJI calls this new function “DJI SkyTalk”.
