Scam, Scam, Scam…. was written everywhere !!! But Desperation and FOMO made entrepreneurs fall prey to scammers!!!
When I first saw the advertising claiming such a renowned named being linked to an event being organised by an unknown company, my first reaction was “It’s a SCAM”.
I tried warning my connects by commenting on that post with brief explanation as well.
Now it turned out to be India’s Fyre Festival. (If you never heard of Fyre Festival - the event that never took off, pls hit Netflix ).
Anyways, I am surprised to see Indian startup entrepreneurs who are believed to be sharp minded, shrewd, intelligent, sensible, falling for such event despite multiple red flags being visible very prominently.
Perhaps, it was Hope and Desperation of ‘raising fund’ and ‘becoming popular’ that organisers took advanatage of.
But still I blame largely on exhibitors, participants and entrepreneurs who spent thousands to lakhs of rupees to be a part of such event, only to get duped.
Investment and Startup both are not easy. It’s not raining money either. Problem is, the glorification of funding and entrepreneurs by TV channels and media.
Such news and scams are only damamaging the reputation of startup ecosystem and also brought worldwide humiliation to UP Startup ecosystem.
