I often discuss how the PPO network is used to create vast inequities between health insurance premiums and what is actually paid to providers. The network is the "middle man." For prescriptions there have traditionally been two middle-men - the PBM and the wholesaler. The introduction of GPO's served as yet a third middle-man and we all know everyone is taking their cut in this scheme. I commend the state of Ohio for taking proactive action in protecting the citizens of Ohio and hope these schemes are ultimately eviscerated from our highly inefficient sickcare system.
