Northrop Grumman Team Successfully Completes GPS OCX System Requirements Review

Global Positioning System Ground Control Segment to Revolutionize Operations

RESTON, Va., May 19, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) recently completed the system requirements review for the U.S. Air Force Next-Generation Global Positioning System (GPS) Ground Control Segment (OCX).

GPS OCX is intended to revolutionize the operations concept for command and control of existing GPS II and future GPS III satellites. OCX will deliver new GPS mission planning, constellation management, ground antenna, monitoring station, and satellite command and control capabilities.

"Our system requirements review provided concrete evidence of how the Air Force is applying its back-to-basics approach to the OCX program with acquisition rigor at its core. Being focused on and fully committed to the customer allowed our team to conduct the requirements review to a tough, new standard that demanded comprehensive evidence of processes, analysis, and documentation," said Steve Bergjans, GPS OCX vice president and program manager for Northrop Grumman. "I was very pleased with the quality of our products and presentation, as well as the feedback we received from the GPS Wing team. Our team's thorough preparation for the review helps build the requirements and process foundation essential to a successful OCX program."

Bergjans added that the completion of the review is a shared accomplishment of Northrop Grumman; Harris Corporation, Melbourne, Fla.; Integral Systems Inc., Lanham, Md.; Infinity Systems Engineering, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and the newest teammate, Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Services, Gaithersburg, Md.

Under the 18-month contract, Northrop Grumman's Team OCX will provide systems engineering and integration; architecture design; communications and network engineering; information assurance and security; modeling and simulation; network management; software development; support, maintenance and implementation; and test and evaluation.
