AWN – He lives off-the-grid.

People tend to demonstrate a sedentary lifestyle nowadays.

Most actors are into a healthy lifestyle in order to keep in attractive shape.

What exactly is a lifestyle? How do you describe yours?

The term of lifestyle was firstly introduced by Austrian psychologist named Alfred Adler in his book, The Case of Miss R. (1929), revealing “a person’s basic character as established early in childhood”. This has acquired a much broader sense since 1961 as “way or style of living”.

In after years, more definitions of lifestyle come up, providing an insight to those who are still confused about the lifestyles they are currently living. An article titled Types of Lifestyles Suitable for You on the Moncler’s website defines:

“Lifestyle is the physical, psychological, social, and economical, values, interests, opinions, and behaviors of a certain individual, group or community. It is how they live their life. People around the world have different kinds of lifestyles, like healthy to unhealthy, or active to inactive”.

Another one is written by Gina Alyse, What Kind of Lifestyle Are You Living?

“A lifestyle is expressed in both the work, behavior, leisure and social patterns we do – it’s a combination of what we repeatedly do. It affects how we see ourselves and our identity”.

Furthermore, a more comprehensive definition explained by Dariush D. Farhud and published on the website of Iranian Journal of Public Health states:

“Lifestyle is a way used by people, groups and nations and is formed in specific geographical, economic, political, cultural and religious text. Lifestyle is referred to the characteristics of inhabitants of a region in special time and place. It includes day to day behaviors and functions of individuals in job, activities, fun and diet.” Impact of Lifestyle on Health.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), a lifestyle closely relates to the quality of life. For instance, using social media platforms excessively is more likely to lead users into addiction, affecting either physical or mental health. Individuals should therefore take into account how certain lifestyles might increase (or decrease) their values. Selecting a lifestyle has nothing to do with what is on trending, it is about achieving pleasure and satisfaction.

Based on article written by Catherine Searle the below frameworks may help some people to identify what kind of lifestyle that suits them the most.

The Provider

Being able to make others happy is what pleases the providers the most. They are peacemakers at their own homes, workplaces, or surroundings. They are the best when it comes to the problem- solving, mediating conflicts to keep the people content.

The Adventurer

Experiencing an adrenalin rush provides adventurers with a sense of freedom. They are brave and curious, and trying new things gives them stimulation to go further.  They have a high sense of competition to beat their high standards and challenges, not to put others down.

The Corporate

The Corporates could obtain their satisfaction by sharing common goals or interests with likeminded people, such as their family members, their workmates, or a community group.  Being a part of something important and something bigger is what motivates them to make a progress.

The Bohemian

Bohemians love group activities such as musical festivals, camping, road trips, or the beach because they need to experience and share emotional connections with others. This is why they prefer to be nomadic to settling down.

The Creative

The creatives are those who feel satisfied by imagining things and then turning what they have imagined into a reality. Creatives prefer to work solo, tending to lock themselves in a quiet space to gain inspirations. The creative process is what makes them more fulfilled than the reaction of others toward their works.

The Socialite

The Socialites get excited from interactions with many people of different personality.  Socialites could not stand a routine, making them demotivated and feeling stuck. They need to have meaningful conversations with people, getting to know and understand individuals in order to obtain new insights.

The Activist

Making a difference in the world is the ultimate goal of activists. They challenge their days in order to establish a valuable legacy for future generations, leaving the world a better place than they found it.

The Academic

The Academics find their satisfaction by reading, writing, and the sharing of ideas, or from analyzing scientific concepts and theories.  This is because of their curiosity for knowledge and learning.

The Technician

The Technician is the person who loves to arrange his/her work methodically and systematically. They pay good attention to detail, whether it is physical things or numbers on a spreadsheet.  They are very good at concentration. They might also be fascinated at hands-on tasks such as construction, craft, manufacturing, or laboratory work, or organising filing or their household stuff.

The Nature-Lover

Those who value the aesthetic qualities of nature, finding satisfaction when they are outdoors in the fresh air, soaking up the wonders of nature. This is often reflected in what they wear from up to the toe, the way they build their houses, and meals they consume.
