The clutch slave cylinder is connected by a fluid line to your clutch master cylinder, and receives fluid pressure from the master when the clutch pedal is depressed. This allows the slave cylinder to disengage your clutch so you can shift gears with a manual transmission. Over time, the clutch slave cylinder or seals may wear out, causing a soft clutch pedal, clutch fluid leaks, a clutch hat that won't disengage, or shifting difficulty. If your vehicle has dark or dirty clutch fluid, it may also indicate a leak somewhere in your clutch system.
