CLEVELAND, Ohio— A Moreland Hills man sued Walmart over its disparity in prices for products sold online and in brick-and-mortar stores.

Kevin Adelstein filed the lawsuit against the supermarket giant in federal court in Cleveland. The lawsuit seeks class-action status. It’s one of several similar ones filed across the country against Walmart.

Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out to Walmart for comment.

Adelstein’s attorneys wrote in court filings that Walmart violated Ohio and federal consumer protection laws.

The accusations stem from higher prices for products in stores versus lower prices for the same product online.

The lawsuit cited three examples: Adelstein bought weed killers for $1.80 and $4.02 more than what was advertised online. He also bought ceramic wax that cost him $7.88 more in the store, the lawsuit said.

Adelstein’s attorneys said Walmart’s own point-of-sale records should show how many people were affected. The lawsuit said attorneys expected thousands have been affected.
