Flavors and fragrances are widely used in food and daily necessities industry, and is one of the important additives. The wastewater produced in production is characterized by complex water quality, high COD and poor biodegradability. The traditional treatment process of flavors and fragrances wastewater is oil removal, air flotation, hydrolysis acidification, contact oxidation process. The process has the limitations of long time, large area and unstable effluent quality when treating flavor and fragrance wastewater. Due to the lack of advanced treatment, it has been difficult for the conventional process to meet requirements of emission standards under the situation of current environmental protection standard improvement. In view of the characteristics of flavor and fragrance wastewater, processes of component-based pretreatment, anaerobic, oxygen aeration and advanced treatment were integrated into conventional treatment process. The results showed that the combined processes could treat wastewater of flavors and fragrances well and operate stably under high load. After treatment, the effluent quality could meet the requirements of the secondary standard in the Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard(GB8978—1996), and also met the requirements of admission standard for sewage plants.
