Hello dear friends, we are Gapper We would like to tell you a little bit about our background, the vision and the journey. Our full name is Gapper International Organisation. It is an organisation that provides voluntourism, sustainable and cultural tourism and charity events. The name, Gapper, comes from the concept of gap year: when young people take the time to explore the world. Our mission is to build connections between people and nature, and to help everyone explore the world and find their passion.

In 2012, we held a wish to change the world and started volunteering in one of the poorest countries in Africa. By the end of the journey, we were so humbled by the experience of helping others that we decided to establish Gapper.

In 2015, we released our online platform to connect Gappers from different backgrounds. We started sharing volunteering stories from various people, and we soon realised that the world is much bigger than we imagined.

Since we started with Gapper, we have developed different projects covering more than 30 cities in 20 different countries across Asia, Africa, North and South America. Some of our voluntourism programs include school teaching, childcare, local women support, marine conservation, animal protection and traditional cultural experiences among other activities. We are proud about the impact of Gapper in different communities in Southeast Asia.

We have built a school in Siam Reip, Cambodia, improving the educational conditions of more than a hundred local students.

We gave donations and aid on the construction of the sea turtle conservation base Saba Asri, in Bali, Indonesia. Together with the local NGOs, we helped to promote local culture and sustainable tourism.

We received the Best Sustainable Tourism Project award by the Chiang Mai Government for our project in NumJum village in Thailand. We also won the Best Traditional Culture Storyteller and Social Media Favourite awards given by Thai Village Academy.

In Malaysia, we have been certified as an official partner and as “an organisation of outstanding contributions and cross-border cultural exchanges” by the Ministry of Education of Langkawi and Semporna.

Our volunteering programs are very rewarding experiences. You are not only changing the lives of people in different communities around the world, but also your own. The friends you will meet and the stories you will live with Gapper will stay in your memories forever. We are a small piece to the world; however, we can still make a difference on the way. We hope you won’t be trapped by the restraints of modern life individualism, but you will continue believing in yourself and spreading goodwill to other after your experience with us.

During the Corona Virus pandemic, we organized different volunteering programs in China. Our work in the Asian giant included many educational tours, childcare programs, cultural heritage protection, nature and animal protection, and cultural experiences in over 15 different villages.

We have launched charity reading online activities in cooperation with Shanghai Library. Our reading club brought hundreds of books for the left-behind children in Guizhou, Yunnan, Inner Mongolia and other rural regions.

At Liu Haisu Art Museum in Shanghai, We held the Shared Healing Art workshop: uniting artists and organising volunteers to promote art in their community, we help people to build a sense of belongingness in their community.

In the Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai areas, we organised sign language learning workshops. The workshop, on the one hand, helps corporations with employees that can’t hear, to promote themselves and generate more income. On the other hand, it also helps raise awareness in society for building more services to benefit the disability group. And now, with the world gradually opening again, we want to bring our projects, together with our mission and vision, to Europe. We hope that, together, we can build a stronger community. Through Gapper, we hope you can get to know different ideas, appreciate different cultures and improve your values to the world.

We hope we can bring new ideas and opportunities to the locals, generating more job opportunities and increasing income.

We, as an international organisation, hope that by connecting various groups of people, we can spread more positive energy to every corner of the world. It has been 10 years since Gapper started, and we hope to see you join us in the next 10 years.
