Wanda was a member of Magneto's Acolytes. She lived in the metal palace with her family (House of Magnus), and did not appear to want to leave Genosha.[1][2]

As part of the Acolytes, and being powerful enough, she ensured peace on the island. She was very proud as well as protective of Genosoha and Magneto's ideals, and believed her place was faithfully at her father's side.[1] She is also very protective of her younger sister, Lorna and helps Magneto hide the truth of the cells from her.[citation needed] She seems estranged from her brother Quicksilver due to her father's orders to keep him off Genosha.[3]

Before Nightcrawler arrived at Genosha, she strongly emphasized Magneto's ideals and followed his beliefs of "survival". Despite this, during Kurt's guided tour with Wanda, the two seemed to get along and she lightly flirted with him before leaving. But after Kurt's discovery of the mutant prisons, he didn't want anything else to do with her,[1] even later claiming that; "she is not the love of my life".[2]

Later, after almost letting Wolverine drown, Wanda realizes that just because her father would do something, doesn't make it right and she and Kurt part on good terms.[2] She still believed her rightful place was at Magneto's until he revealed his devious plan, which led to her realization that everything she believed in and stood for was a lie.[citation needed]

Wanda, along with her father and brother, went to Avengers Mansion, to claim the Wasp for the Brotherhood of Mutants, believing that she was a mutant, due to a rumor in the news. Facing the Avengers, Wanda used her Hex Blasts on a garbage can, causing it to explode and thus defeating the Wasp, who, after understanding the reason behind their arrival, clarified that she was not a mutant. Magneto continued to clash with the anti-mutant protesters that were also there due to the rumor, leading to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver turning on their father, realizing that there should be a better way than blind anger and cruelty that would make them as bad as those they fight.

Magneto, disappointed in his children, abandonned them there, warning them that when the war comes, they should be on his side or be destroyed. After the attack, Iron Man told Wanda and Pietro they would have to be brought in and Jan explained that while she wasn't a mutant, the Avengers wouldn't mind if she were, also speaking to the crowd that regardless of whether they fight against the bad guys together. Quicksilver picked up the Scarlet Witch to escape, but not without her telling the Avengers that they had given the siblings something to think about.[4]
