I’ve learned that our city is planning a Chinese Traditional Art Festival and some English volunteer translators are wanted. I am writing to apply for this position.

My name is Li Hua, an 18-year-old girl from Hongxing Middle School. Having taken all the requirements for this position into account, I believe I am qualified for this position. First of all, I have a good command of English, due to my previous experiences of summer camp in New York city. Therefore, I have the confidence that I can communicate with foreign visitors fluently and do a good job in translating.

Besides I am outgoing and communicative who also have a great sense of humor, which can always enable me to make my audience excited and attracted. In addition, I used to work as a volunteer in a local museum last summer vacation, during which time I accumulated adequate experience about receiving foreign visitors.

Above all, I am enthusiastic about Chinese traditional art and have a good knowledge of different art styles of each period, such as calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty, ink paintings in the Song Dynasty and poems in both periods. All of these can be of great help to my translating job.
