视觉词 / 高频词 （Sight Words）

大家都知道学习自然拼读（Phonics）可以帮助孩子见词能读、听音能写、逐渐实现自主阅读，但其实视觉词/高频词（Sight Words）也是帮助孩子实现自主阅读的一个重要方面，是缺一不可的。

那什么是视觉词/高频词呢？

视觉词/高频词（Sight Words）字面意思就是一看见就能读出来并理解其含义的意思。 

在日常生活和儿童英语读物中，这些词约占50%-80%的比例，是出现频率非常高的单词。这些单词中有许多不遵循自然拼读规则，这使得它们很难发音和拼写，所以需要去特别记忆，以达到看见即可读并知其意的程度。

视觉词/高频词在语境中的使用会极大地影响句子的意思，进而影响故事本身。自动识别视觉单词的能力使初学者能够识别文本中的许多单词，从而能够在阅读过程中专注于意义和理解，而不必停下来对每个单词进行解码。

“视觉词，通常也被称为高频视觉词，是常用的词汇，儿童被鼓励通过视觉记忆整个单词，这样他们可以在三秒钟内自动识别出单词，而不需要使用任何解码策略。”

“在儿童早期印刷材料中，视觉词占很大比例(高达75%)。儿童能够自动识别视觉单词的优势在于，初学者甚至在阅读一篇课文之前就能识别出其中的大部分单词。因此，让孩子在阅读时专注于意义和理解，而不必停下来解码每一个单词。自动识别视觉单词对初学者来说是很有好处的，因为许多单词具有不同寻常的拼写模式，不能用基本的语音知识发音，也不能用图片表示。”

常见的视觉词/高频词词汇表有两个版本：Dolch word list和Fry's word list，下面我就分别介绍一下这两个词汇表。

Dolch word 词汇表

列表共包括220个单词，最初由Edward William Dolch（爱德华·威廉·多尔奇）编撰，并于1948年出版。

包括:

6个连接词——用于连接从句

16个介词——用来介绍短语 

26个代词——用来表示人或物

34个副词——用来修饰动词

46个形容词——用来修饰名词

92个动词——用来表示动作

“Dolch Words词汇表是由美国伊利诺伊大学的语言学教授Edward William Dolch（爱德华·威廉·多尔奇）编撰的一份常用英语词汇表，他是“全词”阅读教学法的主要倡导者。该词汇表于1936年首次发表在一篇期刊文章中，随后于1948年发表在他的著作《阅读中的问题》中。这份列表包含220个基础词汇，在教科书、图书馆书籍、报纸和杂志中使用的所有单词中，有50%到75%是Dolch基本视觉词汇的一部分。”

Fry Sight Word 词汇表

词汇表的由来我查到两个版本：

1. Edward B. Fry（爱德华·弗莱）博士在20世纪50年代(1980年更新)根据3-9年级阅读材料中出现的最常见的单词开发了这个单词列表。

2. 1996年，Edward B. Fry（爱德华·弗莱）博士在Dolch Words词汇表的基础上进行了扩充，并出版了一书。

这份列表中的单词是英语中最常用的单词，按出现频率排列，包括所有的词类。它们通常被分成100个/组，前100个单词是英语中出现频率最高的100个单词。

他的研究发现，在所有发表的文章中，前面的25个单词约占30%，100个单词约占50%，300个单词占所有书面材料的65%。掌握列表中的1000个单词能帮助孩子阅读典型书籍、报纸或网站上90%的单词。

学习建议：

出现频率最高的前100个单词应该在一年级时掌握。

第二组100个单词应该在二年级的时候学习掌握。

第三组100个单词应该在三年级的时候学习掌握。

剩下的第301-1000个单词应该在4-5年级学习掌握。

Dolch word list 和 Fry's word list两者的区别：

排名前100位的Dolch单词(按频率排序)和Fry 100个单词组成了130个独特的单词，其中70个单词出现在这两个列表中。

Dolch 100列表中的所有单词都出现在Fry 1000单词列表中。

Fry前100个单词中，只有9个单词不在Dolch列表或Dolch名词列表中。

这独一无二的9个单词是:each, more, number, other, part, people, than, way和word。
