本周我们来学习和时尚与购物相关的词汇：

1. notch /nɒtʃ/

n．等级;档次

搭配：top-notch 顶尖的；一流的

e.g. A top-notch cast make this quirky comedy good fun.

e.g. It is top-notch products that make this a store I enjoy shopping at.

2. bargain /'bɑːgɪn/

n. 便宜货；廉价货；

e.g. I think £100 for a year’s membership at a gym is an absolute bargain.

e.g. I got some great bargains in the clearance sales.

注：clearance sales 清仓甩卖

类似表达：

This suit is a steal at $80.

I bought this luxury bag at a knockdown price!

v.讨价还价; 商谈；交涉；

e.g. Shop in small local markets and don't be afraid to bargain.

syn. haggle

如口语话题：Do you prefer shopping in a shopping mall or at a street market?

I prefer street market. Since I enjoy haggling with salesman which I can’t do in the shopping mall. I can save a lot.

3. spoil /spɒɪl/

[PHRASE 短语] be spoiled for choice 选择非常多。

e.g. Customers are spoiled/spoilt for choice when buying a new car.

e.g. I am spoiled for choice when shopping in a mall.

v. 款待；善待；

[PHRASE 短语] spoil oneself 犒劳自己。

e.g. I'm going to spoil myself tonight with a good movie and a few beers.

4. conscious /ˈkɑːnʃəs/

adj. 注重…的”，“关注…的

常见搭配：

Fashion/ health/ cost conscious: 关注时尚/健康/ 成本的

e.g. Like many young girls, she is very fashion conscious.

e.g. People who are health conscious are careful about what they eat.

5. 最后结合本季口语话题Why are people so keen on buying iPhones even though they haven't changed much from one iPhone to the next学习两个购物相关的习语：

(1) Keep up with Joneses.

: to show that you are as good as other people by getting what they have and doing what they do. 攀比

(2) jump on bandwagon

: to do what everyone else is doing 跟风，随大流
