This information is provided to help when the picture is cut-off, stretched, zoomed, or doesn't fit the screen due to the type of signal the input source sent to your TV. Items to check before changing settings: Check the TV menu and home screen. If the picture looks stretched or distorted on the TV menu, the TV may require repair. Try a different input source (cable, DVD, or Blu-ray Disc™ player). If the issue only occurs on a specific input, check the settings of the connected device. Check the aspect ratio of the program or movie that you're watching. Some programs aren't in full screen when produced. Some movies are in a 21:9 cinema format which will show black bars on the top and bottom when you view them on a widescreen (16:9) TV. Check for Closed Captioning (CC) or Extended Data Services (XDS). If you turn on the Closed Caption feature, it may make the picture look stretched, distorted or cut-off. Turn off the Close Captioning or Extended Data Services to resolve the issue. The issue may be with the program such as news or sports broadcast. These programs may have banners or tickers that are part of the broadcast that you can't remove or change. Some TVs and other devices don't have the capability to change the aspect ratio of a picture when they receive 720p or 1080i/1080p signals. Note: If the information above does not address your concerns, check the Picture and Display settings, Depending on the broadcast or program you are watching, changing the TV settings may not solve the issue. Check the Picture and Display settingsCheck the settings of the device connected to the TV. You should check the settings of the external device to match the highest resolution your TV can process. The following devices may have settings that can affect how your TV displays the signal: Cable BoxesSatellite ReceiversDigital Video Recorders (DVR)Blu-ray Disc and DVD playersA/V ReceiversGaming systemsComputersOther video devices (cameras, camcorders, etc.) Notes: These devices can affect the resolution and aspect ratio of your TV.If you have a wide-screen TV, you should set the aspect ratio of the device connected to 16:9 if possible.Change the Automatic Picture setting in the TV menu. Most TV models have menu settings that automatically determines the best way to show the picture on the screen. Depending on your TV type, these general steps are provided to turn on or off the Auto Wide feature. Check your TV manuals for model-specific information. Open the Settings menu. The options vary depending on the model year of your TV. Using the Quick Settings button (For models released in 2019 or later): On the supplied remote, press the Quick SettingsManually change the Wide Mode setting. Notes: Not all Wide Mode settings are available on all models.Some TV models cannot change the aspect ratio when a 720p or 1080i signal is being received.Be aware that the picture may appear stretched or parts of the picture may be cut off when using a zoom or wide mode option. If you are watching a sports program or a news broadcast, scores and news ticker information may not be viewable. In these cases, you may want to make sure your TV is set for Normal viewing. If your TV receives a signal that isn't adjusted through automatic modes, you can use your remote control to manually change the display modes of your TV. Check your remote control for the Wide or Zoom button, or a button with an iconDisplays a 16:9 picture into a 4:3 letterbox format with the correct aspect ratio. Picture in 4:3 Aspect RatioEnlarges the picture to preserve the original size as much as possible. Picture in 4:3 Aspect RatioStretches a 4:3 picture horizontally to fill a 16:9 screen. Displays a 16:9 picture in its original size. Picture in 4:3 Aspect RatioStretches the picture horizontally to keep the original vertical size. This is only available with 720p, 1080i, 1080p and 1080/24p sources. Picture in 16:9 Aspect RatioEnlarges the picture horizontally while fitting captions on the screen. Picture in 4:3 Aspect RatioDisplays a 4:3 picture in its original size. Sidebars will appear to fill the 16:9 screen. Stretches a 4:3 picture horizontally, to fill the 16:9 screen. Stretches a black-framed game picture from PlayStation Portable. Stretches a black-framed picture (e.g. browser) from PlayStation Portable. In addition to the Wide Mode settings, the following are other settings that may be available on your TV to further adjust the displayed picture: Auto Wide Automatically changes Wide Mode to match the input signal. 4:3 Default Sets the default screen format for a 4:3 input signal. Auto Display Area Automatically adjusts the picture to the most appropriate display area. Display Area Provides additional picture adjustments when the input signal is 1080i/1080p and Wide Mode is set to Full. Screen Position Adjusts the left-right and up-down position of the picture. (Up-down position is fixed when Wide Mode is set to Wide Zoom, Normal or Full). Vertical Size Adjusts the vertical size of the picture. (Not available when Wide Mode is set to Normal or Full). Horizontal Center Adjusts the left-right position of the picture. Vertical Center Adjusts the up-down position of the picture. Notes: Not all settings are available on all models.The picture may appear stretched or parts of the picture are off when you select the zoom or wide mode option.Check computer settings if it's connected to your TV. You may need to adjust the aspect ratio of your computer and/or the wide mode of your TV to get the best fit your TV screen. Note: The steps and menu settings for TV models vary, if you need specific information, check the available manuals for your TV.
