一个毋庸置疑的事实是（there is an undeniable fact that）: 科技会不断地加大有钱人和穷人的差距（enlarge the gap between the haves and havenots）- - - 有钱人有智能手机、笔记本、无线宽带上网等等（smart phones，laptops，wireless broadband internet etc.）- - - 他们买得起高科技产品（afford）并且能够充分利用（make the most of/take full advantage of）高科技来创造价值 - - - 比如说：发达国家的人们现在能够在家里或者世界任何地方工作（work from home or from anywhere in the world） - - - 不仅在家就能够进行远程会议（distance meeting） - - - 而且能够在线购物（do their shopping online）并且把东西邮寄到家里（have things delivered to） - - -进而提高生活水平（thereby promoting living quality）- - - 然而对于穷人，尤其是那些在贫困的国家（impoverished nations）科技对他们的生活几乎没有影响（have little impact on） - - - 因为他们买不起高科技产品（fail to afford）- - - 这些人也就没有办法利用高科技进行工作赚钱

2科技很大程度扩大（widen）了有钱人和没钱人之间的差距 - - -谈及医疗新技术（medical neo-tech），- - -尽管越来越多先进的药物（medicines）和治疗（treatments）被发明来治疗各种各样的疾病 - - -但是医疗的价格（the prize of meditation）也正在不断地上升 - - -只有有钱人能够支付得起（be affordable to the rich） - - - 所以许多（numerous）穷人正在遭受痛苦的疾病，甚至有一些病人因为无法得到治疗不得不离世（pass away）

科技对于穷人：

然而（on the other hand）,随着科技的发展 - - -以前买不起普通手机（normal telephones）的穷人现在买得起移动电话（mobile phones）- - - 另外，互联网正快速地（at a high rate of speed）向世界各地传播(spread) - - -所以大多数人都可以连接网络 - - -能够利用网络资源 - - -不仅能够谋生（earn a living）而且能够逐渐过上富有的生活（lead a wealthy life gradually） - - -但是，在过去，只有发达地区的人能够使用世界级图书馆（had access to world-class libraries） - - -并且只有第一阶级的人们能够进修高等教育（receive tertiary education）- - - 但是现在几乎任何人都可以享用在线信息 - - -在一定程度上（to certain extent）,科技能够缩短（narrow）富人和穷人之间的差距
