　　1845年3月底，梭罗来到瓦尔登湖畔，自行搭起一间小木屋，并在湖边开垦了一小块土地，借以维持起码的生活。小屋没有院子，只有没被篱笆围住的大自然直通到他的门槛。他与湖畔森林中的动植物为伴，自由地观察、倾听、阅读、冥思遐想。这段经历被梭罗称为简朴隐居生活的一次尝试。

Brief introduction of contents:

At the end of March 1845, Thoreau came to Walden Pond, built a cabin by himself, and reclaimed a small piece of land on the lake, so as to maintain a minimum life. The cottage had no yard, only unfenced nature leading up to his threshold. He kept company with the animals and plants in the forest by the lake, and freely observed, listened, read, and meditated. Thoreau called the experience an attempt at a simple, secluded life.
