Step 1: First of all, go to your Home tab. Then choose the arrow provided on your paste button.

Step 2:Click it and choose the Set Default Paste.  Now this will open up a window.

Step 3: Next from the window of Cut, copy and paste options, choose Keep Text Only option. For confirmation hit the OK button.

Step 4: Now, copy the above-mentioned highlighted portion of the text by pressing Ctrl + C.

Step 5: Delete the text that you have copied and hold Ctrl button and then press V for pasting the portion into the document.

This will help you to paste the text back without any formatting.

You can also try this option where you can cut the text and then paste the same back into the document with the paste option.

This will also help you get rid of the can’t remove highlighting in word problem.

When you copy and paste the text, the highlighted option gets removed and your text gets pasted as a plain text without any highlights. Follow the given steps to do so:

Step 1: First of all, select the specific text from the document. Then go to the Home tab and cut the text with the scissor icon as shown in the picture.

Step 2: Now select the position where you wish to paste the text back by pointing the cursor.

Step 3: Now go back to your home tab and then choose the paste option. Expand the option and from there, choose Paste Special.

Choose the Unformatted Text option from the other displayed options.

Step 4: Hit the OK option and you will get the text without any formatting done as a plain text.
