通过以上列举，不难想象holistic tourism很可能会被英语读者理解为整体调养身心、完善自我认知的旅游，而非“全域旅游”。不过，holistic tourism的说法并不常见，也就说这一表达可以有多种解释。对于一个不首先将holistic tourism与holistic medicine进行联想的人来说，他会接受holistic tourism作为“全域旅游”的翻译吗？

一个最大的问题：holistic tourism中的holistic所指的整体并不清楚。前面提到《韦氏词典》对于holistic的用法实例包括holistic ecology views humans and the environment as a single system，那么holistic tourism将什么看成了a single system呢？在这方面，holistic tourism就没有中文“全域旅游”清晰，后者的“域”应指“区域”，同时还可引申理解为“行业领域”。一个首次见到holistic tourism，且不受holistic medicine干扰的英语母语者极有可能将这里的整体理解为旅游的两方面，即旅游者和旅游目的地共同构建的一个单一系统， 而这两者之间如何达成和谐一致就有些让人费解了。

再看all-for-one tourism这种译法，如此处理让人产生的疑问超过holistic tourism。这里的all指什么，one又指什么？all和one之间的for如何理解？all for one容易让人想到大仲马笔下三个火枪手（Three Musketeers）们的座右铭One for all, all for one，即“我为人人，人人为我”。如果套用到“全域旅游”的语境里，all for one会不会让人误解为要牺牲其它行业来换取旅游业一支独秀呢？“全域旅游”中包含的平衡被all for one译成了失衡。

文章前面提到的“新华社”文章中已经指出，“全域旅游”是“一种新的区域发展理念和模式”。如果只译为tourism或tourism destination的话，就难以体验“发展理念和模式”。因此翻译时应译出development，而不能停留在tourism上。Holistic tourism destination和all-for-onetourism都会让人误解为单纯发展旅游业，难以体现地区以旅游业为核心全面综合发展。旅游业是“全域旅游”的基础，而非目标，也就是说“全域旅游”推进的是整个地区的发展，而非仅仅促进当地旅游业的发展。

因此，根据其内涵，“全域旅游”或许可译为all-area tourism-based development，即整个地区以旅游业为基础进行发展，这种发展既然以旅游业为基础，自然也可以包含旅游业。这里的area也可解读出“领域”的意思。

如果严格按照中文原文结构，译为all-area-advancing tourism，即促进整个区域发展的旅游业的话，也可以体现“全域旅游”的含义。与all-area tourism-based development相比，后一种译法的出发点仅为旅游业，而前者的视角要更为宏大一些。
