Unfortunately, the PMPRB is once again proposing complicated, uncertain and impossible-to-predict guidelines for how it will review medicines for “excessive” prices. Already, we’re getting medicines far after other major jurisdictions, and many medicines – especially those for rare diseases – aren’t coming to Canada at all. The good news is that CORD is ready to work with federal and provincial governments to implement Canada’s Rare Disease Strategy, anchored on a network of centres of excellence that will expand access to diagnosis, treatment and care for all Canadians.
