On 7th of December 2023, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, together with Lookwe, co-hosted 9th Global Diplomats' Chinese Cultural Night Gala. On that occasion, the Secretary-General of the Gala Organizing Committee and the General Manager of Lookwe magazine Mr. Xu Yunzu, reappointed Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Maja Stefanovic as a rotating president of the magazine for the year 2023/2024.

In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Stefanovic emphasized the importance of relations between Serbia and China, that has been intensified through our participation in Belt and Road Initiative, mentioning spirit of cosmopolitanism and openness that the initiative and in its decade-long development continue to cultivate through the cultural exchange between China and the partner countries of the initiative. Giving particular importance to linking countries through culture and arts, she reminded on the fact that Belgrade would host the World Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027.

Speaking of music, guests were attracted by the performance of instrumentalist Slobodan Trkulja.

Prior to the Gala, guests also had the opportunity to visit the booth of the Serbian Cultural Centre, at which the Director Ms. Tatjana Soldat introduced Serbian culture and history to the visitors. At the same time, an investment forum was also organized, at which Economic Counsellor Ms. Milanka Stojakovic in front of around one hundred of business representatives, as well as representatives of international organizations and institutions, presented investment opportunities in the Republic of Serbia.

The diplomatic gala this year is a traditional event, devoted to international exchange, cultural and investment cooperation, included both the exhibition of China's intangible cultural heritage and the rich artistic program. The Gala was attended by over 400 people from Chinese media and culture circlues, as well as numerous diplomats from more than 170 countries.

Lookwe, co-host of the Gala, is one of the largest non-governmental platforms for public diplomacy in China and has a publishing business, management and event organization for culture and investment promotion in its portfolio.
