Intel Core i7-8750H vs Intel Core i7-13700K vs Intel Core i5-8300HIntel Core i7-8750H ► remove from comparison

The Intel Core i7-8750H is a high-end processor for laptops with six cores based on the Coffee Lake architecture and will be announced early 2018. The processor clocks at between 2.2 and 4.1 GHz (4 GHz with 4 cores, 3.9 GHz with 6 cores) and can execute up to twelve threads simultaneously thanks to Hyper-Threading. According to Intel, the CPU is manufactured in an improved 14nm (14nm++) process.

The Coffee Lake architecture is similar to Kaby Lake and differs only in the amount of cores (now six cores for the high end versions) and the improved 14nm process (14nm++ according to Intel).

Performance

Due to the two additional cores, performance has increased by almost 50% compared to a similar clocked Kaby Lake processor like the Core i7-7820HQ (2.9 - 3.9 GHz). Single-core performance has not improved since its Kaby Lake predecessor. As a high-end model, the i7-8850H is suitable for the most demanding applications and games.

Graphics

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 iGPU is supposed to offer a slightly higher performance as its clock rate has been increased by 50 MHz (rumored). The architecture is identical to that of the Intel HD Graphics 630. We do expect a performance improvement, but as a low-end solution it will probably only display current games smoothly at reduced details - if at all.

Power Consumption

Intel specifies the TDP with 45 watts and therefore the i7 is only suited for big laptops with good cooling solutions. Using cTDP-down, the CPU can also be configured to 35 Watt resulting in a reduced performance.

Der Intel Core i7-13700K ist eine High-End-CPU auf Basis der aktuellen Raptor-Lake-Architektur, die im NSeptember 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Der Basistakt betr盲gt 3,4 GHz und kann bei optimalen Bedingungen bis zu 5,4 GHz erreichen. Die insgesamt 24 Threads unterteilen sich in P-Cores und E-Cores, die wir bereits aus der Alder-Lake-Architektur her kennen. Gegen眉ber dem Intel Core i7-12700K wurde jedoch die Anzahl der E-Kerne verdoppelt, womit der Intel Core i7-13700K nun 24 Threads bietet. Wie gewohnt bieten die K-Modelle weiterhin einen frei w盲hlbaren Multiplikator, was das 脺bertakten vereinfacht. Au脽erdem k枚nnen alle neuen Raptor-Lake-Prozessoren auf den bereits vorhandenen Sockel 1700 Mainboards betrieben werden. Nach einem BIOS-Update werde auch die aktuellen Prozessoren unterst眉tzt.

Performance

Im Vergleich zum Intel Core i7-12700K bietet der Core i7-13700K weiterhin 8 P-Kerne, welche aber durch 8 weitere E-Cores bei anspruchsvollen Anwendungen entlastet werden sollen. Die E-Cores k眉mmern sich in erster Linie um Hintergrundanwendungen. Die hybride Architektur vertraut dabei auf den Intel Thread Direktor, der f眉r die richtige Zuteilung der Aufgaben zust盲ndig ist. Im Vergleich zu Alder-Lake wurde die Anzahl der E-Kerne verdoppelt, womit die Multi-Thread-Performance im Zusammenspiel mit einer nochmals gesteigerten IPC deutlich profitiert. Wenn alle Voraussetzungen erf眉llt werden, kann Intel Turbo Boost 3.0 den Takt der P-Cores auf bis zu 5,4 GHz erh枚hen. Auch die E-Cores lassen sich 眉bertakten und erreichen maximal 3,4 GHz. 

Grafikeinheit

Wie auch der Intel Core i7-12700K bietet der Intel Core i7-13700K eine integrierte Grafikeinheit. Als Basis dient weiterhin die Intel Iris Xe-Architektur. Rein leistungstechnisch hat sich bei der neuen Intel UHD Graphics 770 aber nicht viel ver盲ndert.

Leistungsaufnahme

Der Intel Core i7-13700K ist mit einer TDP von 125 Watt angegeben, was dem PL1-Wert entspricht. Im Boost kann die Leistung des Prozessors auf bis zu 253 Watt ansteigen (PL2). Voraussetzungen sind aber eine gute K眉hlung. Werden alle Restriktionen im BIOS deaktiviert, wird der PL2-Wert nicht durch einen Tau-Wert eingeschr盲nkt. Hierf眉r sollte aber eine sehr leistungsstarke K眉hleinheit verwendet werden.

The Intel Core i5-8300H is a fast processor for laptops with four cores based on the Coffee Lake architecture and was announced early 2018. The processor clocks at between 2.3 and 4 GHz (3.9 with 4 cores) and can execute up to eight threads simultaneously thanks to Hyper-Threading. According to Intel, the CPU is manufactured in an improved 14nm (14nm++) process.

The Intel Core i5-8300H should perform similar as the older Core i7-7820HQ (2.9 - 4 GHz). The faster Coffee Lake CPUs, like the Core i7-8750H offers two additional cores and is therefore up to 50% faster in multithreaded benchmarks. Still, the performance of the i5-8300H should be sufficient for even demanding applications and games.
