each other’s 后面接的名词，需要单数用单数，需要复数用复数。例如，each other’s接物质名词或抽象名词（即：不可数名词），仍然使用单数；each other’s 接可数名词，用单复数均可，具体情况具体对待。现分别叙述如下：

1. 接不可数名词，用单数。

The two angry women set to and began to pull each other's hair.

这两个愤怒的女人吵了起来并彼此动手扯对方的头发。

They clinked glasses and drank to each other's health. 

他们碰杯互祝身体健康。

2. 接可数名词，用复数。

A good relationship involves concern and sensitivity for each other's feelings. 

一段美满的恋情需要彼此关心并体恤对方的情感。

We have to tolerate each other's mistakes.  

我们得互相容忍对方的错误。

以上两句需要用复数，因为一个人的“情感”是多种多样的，包含着“喜怒哀乐”，相互的感情当然也用复数。一个人犯的“错误”也不止一个。

【注意】如果在one’s 之后接的名词通常是复数，那么在each other’s 后同样用复数。除了上面两个例子外，又如：

my hobbies --- exchange each other's hobbies 

一个人的爱好有许多，交流相互之间的爱好，自然用复数。

his feelings --- express each other's feelings 

人的情感是多样的，倾诉相互之间的情感，自然用复数。

3. 接可数名词，用单数。

each other’s 之后接了可数名词，可能使用复数，也可能使用单数，应根据需要判断并选用合适的单、复数。

【注意】如果在one’s 之后接的名词通常是单数，那么在each other’s 后同样用单数。例如：

his country---each other's country  

know/visit each other's country

每个人的国家就是一个，了解/参观相互之间的国家，也用单数。

her address---each other's address  

write down each other's address 

通常，人的居住地址就一个用单数，写下相互的地址，也用单数。

4. 接可数名词，用单数、复数均可，但意思不同。

The scientists have already experimented at each other's test sites. 科学家已经在彼此的实验场所进行了实验。

【说明】两位科学家在各自以及对方的实验场所做过该实验。（每个人在两个场所做实验）

The scientists have already experimented at each other's test site. 科学家已经在对方的实验场所进行了实验。

【说明】两位科学家只在对方的实验场所做过该实验。（每个人在一个场所做实验）

关于黎老师举的几个例子，我谈一下自己的看法：

They knew each other's weak points. 他们知道彼此的弱点。

——该句的weak points，表示一个人的缺点不止一个，通常情况下都是用复数的。例如：her weak points, his weak points。另外，Each of them knew the other's weak points.也应该用复数。

We can wear each other's clothes. 我们可以相互换着衣服穿。（摘自《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》）

The twins can wear each other's clothes.[= each one can wear the other's clothes.] (摘自《韦氏高阶英语词典》）

­­——clothes （衣服）这个词没有单数用法，始终以复数出现，一个人“穿衣”也是复数。

be at each other's throats 互相打斗；激烈争吵 （摘自《朗文当代高级英语辞典》第5版）

——英语习语，具有特定的意义。就像have a word （说句话，说说话）和have words （口角，吵架），一样的道理。

They look at each other's faces. 他们望着彼此的脸。（摘自《英语常用词用法详解大辞典》）

——我认为，本句的face应该用单数。又如：

They flirted water to each other's face. 他们相互朝对方的脸上弹水。

我现在把曹老师的两个例句，做一比较：

Many couples could not even speak each other’ s language.（BNC）.

We read each other’s thoughts and share each other’s interests.（BNC）. 

第一句，异国婚姻的夫妻双方不会讲对方的语言：his language, her language，虽然是two langauges，但讲各自对方的语言用单数。

第二句，一个人的想法和兴趣是多种多样的，用复数：my thoughts and interests，his thoughts and interests，在each other’s 后面，自然还用复数！

例句中的thoughts 和 interests 用复数，不是两个人的相加之和，而是每个人具有的！

所以，我坚持认为，如果one’s 后面的名词，通常用单数还是复数，那么，在each other’s 后面的名词，也是用单数还是复数。

说到底：each other's 接的名词用单数还是复数，不是语法本身的问题，而是逻辑问题，按常识判断即可。
