即将句子中的谓语动词全部置于主语之前，常用于一般现在时和一般过去时

当表示时间、地点、方位的副词或介词短语处于句首时，使用全部倒装：now、then、here、there、down、up、in、out、off、away、in the distance、on the hill……

There goes the last bus.

末班汽车开走了。

Here is the book you want.

你要的书在这里。

In front of the house stood a tree.

房子前有一棵树。

Under the tree sat a little girl.

树下坐着一个小女孩。

In came a man with a umbrella.

一个带着伞的男人进来了。

Tip

上述的倒装句型，主语必须为名词，若为人称代词则不能使用倒装。

且谓语动词依旧受在其后的主语限制。

在主系表的结构中，有时为了强调表语，可以将表语提前形成倒装句，也就是表系主句型

[Present at the meeting] were [a group of young people].

出席会议的是一群年轻人。

在某些表示祝愿的句子中：

即将动词的一部分（助动词或情态动词）置于主语之前

对于表示否定或半否定意义的词或词组，若其位于句首，则谓语动词需部分倒装

Tip

当not until引导主从复合句且其位于句首时，从句不倒装，仅对主句部分倒装

以否定连词开头的句子，前面的分句部分倒装，后面的分句不倒装，即前倒后不倒

在not only... but also开头的句子中，只有当它连接的是两个分句时才对前面的分句进行部分倒装，其他情况均不使用倒装结构

不仅他不喜欢这个蛋糕，我也不喜欢这个蛋糕。

当Only + 状语或状语从句位于句首时，这个句子使用部分倒装，从句不倒装

Only after the accident did he become careful.

只有在那次事故之后，他才变得小心起来。

Only when one falls in love can one understand the meaning of it.

人只有恋爱了才能理解爱的真谛。

只有当他收到了邮件之后，他才意识到发生了什么。

在So...that/Such...that句型中，如果So + 形容词/副词或者Such + 名词位于句首，则主句进行部分倒装

Examples

So carelessly did he drive that he almost killed himself.

他开车如此粗心，差点害死他自己。

Such a nice man does he seem that we all like him.

他看上去是个很和蔼的人，所以我们都喜欢他。

当So位于句首，表示另一个主语“也……”时， 使用So + Be动词/助动词/情态动词 + 主语结构；当Nor/Neither位于句首，表示另一个主语“也不……“时，使用Nor/Neither + Be动词/助动词/情态动词 + 主语结构

Examples

Tom can speak French, so can Jack.

Tom会说法语，Jack也会。

He didn't see the film last night, neither did she.

他昨晚没看这个电影，她也没看。

Tip

若是对上文的同一主语的情况表示“的确、肯定”，则不使用倒装

当as/though引导让步状语从句时，意为“尽管，即使，虽然”，从句使用部分倒装，主要使用以下三种结构（当形容词最高级或单数可数名词位于句首时无需加冠词）：

Child as he is, he knows a lot.

尽管他只是个孩子，但他所知甚多。

Hard as he tried, he didn't pass the exam.

尽管他努力了，但他未能通过测试。

当if虚拟条件句中含有were、had或should时，可将其提前，省略if，构成部分倒装

Examples

Were he here, we would hava no difficulty with this matter.

他要是在这里的话，我们在这件事上就不会有困难了。

Had I left a little earlier, I would have caught the train.

我要是早一点触发，我就能赶上火车了。

Should he act like that again, he would be punished.

他要是再那样做，就要受到惩罚了。
