ABOUT SCHOOL OF CHINESE LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE, BEIJING NORMAL UNIVERSITY

北师大文学院成立于1902年，是中国历史最悠久的文学院之一，引领并推动了现代中文学科的发展。20世纪一批中国最重要的国学大师、文学史家、语言学家、民俗学家曾在这里执教，包括鲁迅、钱玄同、刘半农、黎锦熙、沈从文、沈兼士、余嘉锡、吴承仕、钟敬文、启功等。

School of Chinese Language and Literature (SCLL) at Beijing Normal University (BNU), established in 1902, is one of the most time-honored schools of Chinese language and literature in China. It witnesses the entire history of Chinese higher education and promotes the development of the modern discipline of Chinese language and literature. Many of the most important figures of Chinese classics, literary scholars and linguists of twentieth-century China taught here, including Lu Xun, Qian Xuantong, Liu Bannong, Li Jinxi, Shen Congwen, Shen Jianshi, Yu Jiaxi, Wu Chengshi, Zhong Jingwen, Qi Gong and so on.

文学院的学术成就和整体声誉，代表了中国语言文学学科的最高水平，在21世纪以来教育部组织的三次学科评估中位列前茅；一次第一名，两次第二名。2017年12月，教育部学位与研究生教育发展中心公布全国第四轮学科评估结果，在一级学科“中国语言文学”148所参评高校中，北京师范大学文学院被评为A+，是获得该最高评估等级的两所单位之一。文学院中国语言文学学科是国家一级学科重点学科，先后获得过国家所能授予本学科的所有资质和荣誉，是政府重点支持的学术单位。2017年9月，文学院“中国语言文学”与“语言学”入选国家“双一流”建设学科。

The academic level and overall reputation of SCLL represent the highest standard in the discipline of Chines language and literature. SCLL was ranked 1st once and 2nd twice by MOE respectively in 2004,2009, and 2013 for its academic excellence and research strength. In December 2017, as a result of the fourth round of the disciplinary evaluation released by the Department of Degree Management & Postgraduate Education of MOE, SCLL is ranked the highest grade A+ in the discipline of Chinese Language and Literature, and it is one of the only two higher education institutions which received this evaluation. SCLL has earned all kinds of honors and qualifications in the discipline and receives significant support from the government. In September 2017, MOE nominates both disciplines “Chinese Language and Literature” and “Linguistics” of SCLL to join in the Overall Scheme for Promoting the Development of World-class Universities and Disciplines.

文学院培养了一大批优秀人才，包括：本学科的顶级学者，当代文坛上最为杰出的作家，诗人，剧作家，实业家，政府官员，公益组织领导者，从事中国语言教育和国际汉语教育的高水平师资，等等。杰出校友有：诺贝尔文学奖获得者莫言、著名作家苏童、企业家邱季端、前全国人大副委员长许嘉璐，等等。

SCLL has nurtured a large number of top-notch scholars in the field. There are many writers, poets and playwrights who have made the most prominent contributions to contemporary Chinese literature. There are social elites such as entrepreneurs, government officials and leaders of commonweal organizations. It has provided a large number of high level teachers for the education of the Chinese language both in and outside China. The most distinguished alumni include: Mo Yan, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, Su Tong, renowned writer, Qiu Jiduan, entrepreneur, Xu Jialu, Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress.

文学院是国家文科基础学科人才培养和科学研究的基地，培养汉语言文学专业、中国语言与文化专业（面向留学生）本科生。拥有本学科全国最多的硕士研究生和博士研究生培养方向，其中硕士生专业15个，博士生专业9个。在读学生约2300人，包括本科生、硕士生、博士生，是北京师范大学学生人数最多的院系，所有中国学生都有赴国外学习的机会。国际学生比例超过20%，其中本科学位留学生约400人，硕士博士学位留学研究生约100人。

SCLL is one of the national centers for training professionals and a base for academic research in humanities. It provides education for undergraduate students in Chinese languages and literature, as well as Chines Studies in general for overseas students. It provides courses with the greatest diversity nationwide for master and PhD students including 15 MA programs and 9 doctorate programs. SCLL has nearly 2300 full-time students, including undergraduates, master students, and doctoral students. It is BNU’s largest school and all the students have the opportunity to study aboard. More than 20% of SCLL’s students are overseas students, among whom there are around 400 undergraduate students and around 100 postgraduate students.

本专业积极寻求合作，与海外高校开展联合培养，形式多样。比如与海外高校优势人文、社会学科课程对接，侧重某一学术或应用领域，鼓励学生来华进行沉浸式语言学习、参与在华专业实习等。学制：学生在海外高校学习两年，分别为第一、第四学年；在北京师范大学文学院学习两年，分别为第二、第三学年。两校互认学分，颁发双学士学位证书。

This program seeks cooperation and conducts joint student cultivation with overseas higher learning institutions in various forms, such as merging the lecture characteristics of their respective preponderant disciplines into teaching modules. Graduates can achieve dual certification from the both universities after accomplishing the four-year course, that is, spending years one and four in the cooperative university and years two and three in Beijing for a language immersion. Vocational employability can be also embedded in the course with an integral internship opportunity included in Year 3 in Beijing.

文学院在本专业培养框架内创建系列海外中文学院。已经招生或正在筹建的有：北京师范大学-卡迪夫大学中文学院（英国）、北京师范大学-莫斯科师范大学联合学院（俄罗斯）、北京师范大学-俄克拉荷马大学中文学院（美国）。

SCLL has established a few overseas branches within this course’s framework, for example, BNU-CU Chinese College at Cardiff in the UK, BNU-MSPU Joint Institute at Moscow State Pedagogical University in Russia, and BNU-OU Chinese College at University of Oklahoma in the USA.

四、北京师范大学-卡迪夫大学中文学院简介

ABOUT BNU-CU CHINESE COLLEGE AT CARDIFF

北京师范大学-卡迪夫大学中文学院于2015年9月揭牌成立，由北师大文学院与卡迪夫大学现代语言学院共同承办，自2017年9月起正式招生，生源国际化，在读学生分别来自英国、波兰、瑞典等国。

The Beijing Normal University-Cardiff University Chinese College has been established in September 2015. It is jointly undertaken by SCLL, BNU and Cardiff University’s School of Modern Languages. BNU-CU Chinese College has officially admitted students since September 2017, whose source is rather internationalized, and the current students are from the UK, Poland and Sweden.

该项目旨在建立高水平的教育与学术合作，整合对接卡迪夫大学“文化与创意经济”相关研究课程，以全球视野来教授中国语言和文化，并培养学生进一步了解当前中国社会、政治、文化、经济、教育和法律，知晓中国国内与国际发展情况等。

By merging SCLL’s top quality teaching syllabus with CU's distinctive modules on Cultural and Creative Industries, the program aims to build a high level platform of educational and academic collaboration with a global vision to teach Chinese language and culture and to further the understanding of present Chinese society, politics, culture, economics, education and law, as well as the learning about China’s domestic and international developments, etc.

学生在卡迪夫和北京两地完成本科四年学业。第一学年，卡迪夫大学现代语言学院提供基础汉语课程以及中国历史与文化入门课程。第二、三学年，北京师范大学文学院提供本专业核心课程，包括中英文联合授课的中国文化与实务课程等。特别是在第三学年，学生还有机会参与多样化的专业实习与实践，涉及领域包括艺术展览、图书出版、媒体设计、电影戏剧等，以此强化运用普通话实际工作的能力，并收集研究数据。在京两年的学习体验也有助于学生全面了解并融入当今中国人的日常生活。第四学年，学生返回卡迪夫大学，英文撰写学位论文。

The four-year program is divided across both institutions. Students will spend the first year in CU, acquiring a thorough grounding in Chinese history and culture as well as linguistic skills. While the next two years in BNU, students will take part in classroom studies of the core subjects, learning Mandarin to near native competency, and presenting in practical seminars instructed in Chinese and English. Especially in the third year, students can also undertake an internship, chosen from a wide scope of options in the cultural sector which could range from private art galleries, book publishers and media design companies to state opera houses, for linguistic consolidation as well as research data collection. The two-year experience in target country also allows students to become fully immersed in Chinese life. Students will be required to write a dissertation as part of the fourth year back in Cardiff.

学生毕业将同时获得卡迪夫大学“现代汉语”专业学士学位和北京师范大学“中国语言与文化”专业学士学位。

Graduates will achieve dual certification from both Cardiff University and Beijing Normal University: receiving a BA in Modern Chinese from CU and a BA in Chinese Studies from BNU.
