I have to say, this site of yours is really amazing and fun to use — even for those with severely limited IPA transcription skills — even though I fully understand that there isn’t one single official transcription of the English language, and compromises must be found. Providing a TTS option which just runs locally, using the React speech module, was an excellent choice! That way, users can simply select whatever system voice they most like, and install it on their system — so long as the browser supports it, it works quite well! It’s just that one of the top questions in the FAQ is “how to download the clip” — and people on the comments section ask the same thing over and over and over again… [snip] There have been some “bold assumptions” regarding how exactly you produce phonemes out of IPA that a common TTS can play, and make sure these match perfectly to what “native” TTS systems use.
