If this truly is an April Fool’s joke from the Stranger Things writers, then it’s just cruel.

It’s somehow already nearing a year since season 4 of the hit Netflix show premiered, introducing the world to the one and only Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), the leader of the Hellfire Club who quickly became a fan-favourite.

Eddie suffered a dreadful fate in the Upside Down when he stood up to the Demobats to prove that he was a hero, with the injuries that he sustained from the creatures resulting in his death.

However, viewers have continually speculated over whether Eddie could somehow return in season 5, with some theorising that he’ll transform into the Dungeons & Dragons character Kas, a vampire who was Vecna’s most trusted lieutenant, before subsequently turning on the villain.

In November last year, the official Twitter account for Stranger Things revealed the title for the very first episode of the fifth and final season: ‘Chapter One: The Crawl.’

On April 1, a fan quote-tweeted the old chapter title announcement and asked: ‘Are we ready for the second title?’

In response, the Twitter account for the writers of Stranger Things wrote: ‘Chapter Two: Kas the Bloody-Handed.’

This immediately sparked excitement, prompting some to assume that they were confirming the theory of Eddie’s resurrection and his transformation into Kas.

But people – look at the date.

Given the tweet was shared on April 1, this could – sadly – simply be an April Fool’s joke.

If it isn’t one, then we’re going to have to applaud the writers for a spectacular double bluff.
