take action 仅仅只是表示“采取行动”，并没有提及具体的行动措施，也就是说 take action 只是表示 do sth，并没有说how to do it. 也就是说sth不是重点，重点是do。例如：

We are ready to take action.

我们准备行动了。--->重点是为行动做好了相关准备，如何行动、采取哪种行动方式等，并未提及（不是重点）

还要注意：take action 在英式英语中，只是词组（phrase），而在美式英语中，整个词组是作为idiom看待的，所以 “take actions”的说法很罕见。

什么时候会把action看做可数名词呢？那是我们涉及到具体（specific）的行动的时候，也就是action本身为重点的时候。也正因为给了action具体的定义（action本身成了重点），所以复数形式的actions前面会有一些修饰词：

You should take the following actions in case of ...

I took the actions I had promised to take.

可以看出，上面两个例句都涉及到具体的行动，已经不是 do sth的含义了。

回到网友的例句，action可数和不可数，意思其实不太一样：

The school has been asked to take action to fix the problem.

--->采取行动解决问题(不涉及具体行动，只强调行动起来）---> do sth to fix the problem.

The school has been asked to take certain actions to fix the problem.

---->采取一些具体行动解决问题 ---> do some specific things to fix the problem.
