audience本身是一个集合名词，意思是“(戏剧、音乐会或演讲等的) 观众，听众; (同一事物的) 观众，读者”。audience如果指“（群）观众，听众”时有复数形式，其复数形式是audiences。

1. 因为audience 是一个集合名词，因此an audience 不是用来指“一个观众”，而是用来指某一群观众、某一个场次观众或者某一方面的观众等等。例句：
