先来看level的名词用法吧：

再看一句：

Dolphins show a high level of intelligence.

海豚显示出较高的智力水平。

仍然可以当“水平”用。

那么看下面这句了：

Traning is offered at each level in the department.

训练面向部门的各级员工提供。

这个level，就是指政府或公司的各个层级的意思了。

那么，on the level，是什么意思了？

This is all on the level. 这全都合法。

on the level：指诚实或合法的意思，属于一个常见短语，最好掌握之。

那么再看一个短语：descend/sink to sb's level

if you hit him back, you will only be descending to his level.

如果你打回去，你就和他一个水平了。

2.再看level作形容词的用法：

a level surface suitable for wheelchais.

适合轮椅的水平表面。

这里的level，可以作“水平面”讲。

再看一句：

your eyes should be level with the top of the screen.

例如：Slowly he levelled his gun at the tiger.

nothing

I don't know nothing：我什么都不知道

一般情况下，我们说双重否定表肯定，但也有例外的，比如I don't know nothing这个句子中，并不是表示我无所不知，其实它相当于I don't know anything我什么都不知道，前者是常用于口语中，后者用于书面语。

例句

I don't know nothing about English. [=I don’t know anything about English.]

我对英语一无所知。

Surprise nothing：根本不是

这个短语不是表示没有惊喜的意思，而是用于强烈地表示相反看法，意为根本不是这样。

例句

This is a surprise.Surprise nothing.

这是意料不到的事。

sweet nothings：浪漫情话

大家都爱听的话肯定少不了甜言蜜语，因此这种浪漫的话用英语表示为sweet nothing，没有什么实质性内容的甜蜜便是用以哄人的浪漫情话。

例句

He whispered sweet nothings in her ear.

他在她耳边低声说甜言蜜语。

关于know的短语

了解内幕的；知道内情的

In the know不仅仅指单纯的知道，还是知道内情的了解程度。

例句

For those of you not in the know, Jane is the person who founded this organization.

对于你们当中不知内情的人来说，简是这个组织的创造者。

for all I know

说不定；不知道

For all I know不是据我所知，据我所知的英语为as far as I know，因此for all I know有另外的意思，是（强调不知道对自己无关紧要的事）不知道，说不定。

例句

For all I know, he left last night. [=I don't know when he left; it's possible that he left last night]

说不定他昨晚就走了。

It could be you, for all I know.

说不定就是你干的。

know better

有头脑，明事理（而不至于…）

前段时间全网玩梗的“Nobody knows it better than me——没有人比我更懂”，被人调侃为“懂王”。那么“没人比我更懂”的英文其实就是know better，什么都懂因而指这个人有头脑，明事理。

例句

You walked home alone? Don't you know better (than that)?

你独自走回家的？难道你没脑子吗？

She'll know better than to trust them again. [=she will not trust them again]

她不会再相信他们了。

know your way around

熟悉；擅长

Know your way around是指可以对一个熟悉的，特定的地方或地区在那里游刃有余。同时它也有另一个意思，就是擅长；今后说到擅长，就不要只能想到good at啦！

例句

He knows his way around Boston.

他对波士顿很熟悉。

She really knows her way around a sailboat. [=she knows how to sail; she is a very good sailor]

她确实擅长驾驶帆船。

not know your ass from your elbow

愚蠢之极；屁都不懂

这是一个粗鲁的短语，意思是愚蠢，不能理解非常简单的事情，这个短语是作为不礼貌的用语，含贬义，因此知道意思即可。

例句

Don't take his word for it——he doesn't know his ass from his elbow.

别信他那一套他屁都不懂。

拓展

no one, nobody, nothing, nowhere

no one, nobody, nothing, nowhere都是用来指代人，物或者地方的缺席，其中no one和nobody的意思是一样的。no one比nobody更正式,在写作中用no one比nobody多。

而这些词语的语气比在前面加not...更强烈，比如看下面这个例子对比

She told no one, not even her mother. > She didn’t tell anyone …

实际上，像我们开头说到的短是英语中的个例，一般来说，像nobody, no one, nothing, nowhere 等等都不会跟在否定词之后的（hardly，seldom...），一般是用anyone，anybody，anything，anywhere等。

I can’t do anything.

Not: I can’t do nothing.

She talks to hardly anyone.

Not: She talks to hardly no one.
