Last week, one of my wonderful yoga instructors closed out an incredible class with the poem Walk Slowly by Danna Faulds. My eyes were still closed from shavasana, and each successive word seemed to find its way deep within me, resonating a teeny bit more than the last. The lines are built around concepts that we鈥檝e touched upon right here on this blog many times before: Slow it down. Take a breath. Be kind to yourself. Enjoy every big beautiful moment of the life you live. I love the power this poem holds, yet how it鈥檚 done with such simplicity. After hearing it just once, I鈥檝e found certain portions echoing in my head on multiple occasions. I just knew I had to share it with you. We, in this life, have a lot to be thankful for. Take a moment to slow it down. Enjoy. Walk Slowly It only takes a reminder to breathe, a moment to be still, and just like that, something in me settles, softens, makes space for imperfection. The harsh voice 聽of judgment drops to a whisper and I remember again that life isn鈥檛 a relay 聽race; that we will all cross the finish line; that waking up to life is what we were born for. As many times as I 聽forget, catch myself charging forward 聽without even knowing where I鈥檓 going, that many times I can make the choice 聽to stop, to breathe, and be, and walk 聽slowly into the mystery. -Danna Faulds Follow Brigette on Instagram, and have a look at her blog and Etsy shop! |
