The new year is officially here, and it’s time to shake things up. Or maybe the better word would be stir, in this case…actually they both work! Grab some pretty paper and little gems, because we are making a totally unique, boba shaker card today. Like this design? Consider leaving a tip to show your support.I don’t know about you, but I love myself some boba tea! Anytime I go anywhere that happens to have a boba place nearby, you better believe I’m going to try it out. I don’t know what it is, but I just love boba! Whether you’re as big of a boba fan as me, or you don’t understand what the hype is all about, I hope you can at least agree that this shaker card is pretty darn cute. Watch a short video of me putting this project together on Instagram. Supplies Cardstock Dura-Lar Film Hot Glue Small Beads/Gems Precision Craft Glue or a Glue Stick Foam Tape Bone Folder (optional) A Cutting Machine or X-ACTO knife My Free Template How to Make It 1. Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the pieces for your boba shaker card. Layering 2. Start by layering your straw on top of your back drink layer. Next, add your little boba pieces to your front drink layer. Attach your front border piece to the smaller, clear film piece. Then, attach your boba drink layer on top of your larger, clear film piece. Filling 3. Flip your smaller film layer over and make a wall of foam tape (I did two layers). Fill the inside with small beads/gems. Next, attach your larger film layer to your foam tape wall with the boba pieces inward (facing the filler). Add another wall of foam tape (just one layer this time) around the edges of the film layer, but only along the sides and bottom. Leave the top open so that the card layer can slip inside. Finishing Touches 4. Write a note on your card, and slip it behind the film layers. Add any other embellishments/personalizations you’d like! I went back and added a strip of ribbon around the edges in order to hide the foam tape edges, and I am really happy with how it turned out. Anytime I do a project involving clear film, I feel like the photos really don’t do it justice. It’s difficult to capture just how magical this card looks in person! The “card” part of this design is in the removable straw/back drink layer. You can pull it out and write a little message on the backside as a fun surprise for the recipient. But, if you don’t plan on using this as a card, then you can simply glue those two pieces to the backing layer. Either way, it’s a super cute project! I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website.
