The i9-14900K's single threaded performance is still what matters the most since multithreading and multicore applications are rare. I have both the 7950X3D as well, and that cpu is better for multithreaded performance, so for games and applications that can do multithreading well, that cpu is better. But multithreaded programming is hard and few applications support it. The three games where you will see the 7950X3D do the best on is Metro Exodus, RDR2 and Cyberpunk2077, because of their great multithreaded support. But for everything else the i9-14900K wins, including most workstation tasks. One thing that I can say the i9-14900K has over the 7950X3D is also the better DDR5 support. XMP2 just works, the AMD Expo ram stuff is very unique to specific X670 boards, harder to find and usually costs more and you need to stick to certain models and ram kits, whereas on Intel any z790 chipset board and any DDR5 kit will work. Another thing to keep in mind is that the amd X670 boards have better nvme gen5 support whereas on most z790 boards excluding ultra high end, you'll only get nvme gen4, but you can use a PCIe gen5 nvme card like the Asus Hyper m.2 Gen 5 to get the full speed. Though this means that most AMD x670 boards are far more expensive than the z790 boards. the i9-14900K is a better all round choice in my opinion. Though both are decent and you won't be disappointed if you go the 7950X3D route either. I like both.
