如果说开花的英语是 open flower 吗？这就好比我们把花开的意象看成简单的开门动作一样，既是中式英语也不能体现花团锦簇的美好，因此，英语说开花，可以用 bloom 或者 blossom 来表示。

blossom

bloom和blossom都可以表示开花的意思，一般来说前者更常用；而她们的用处相差不大，只是在表示 “观赏性花朵绽放、盛开，如牡丹，玫瑰，梅花，菊花时多用 “bloom”；而 “blossom” 一般指树木开花，尤指果树上开的花。作为名词时表示 “花簇” ，同时 “blossom”是不可数名词，它也可以指 “花簇中的一朵 ”。

例句

Due to limitations in size and legal rules, our efforts did not blossom.

由于规模和法规的限制，我们的努力未能开花结果。

作称呼语

blossom可以用来作称呼语，比如漂亮的人，前途无量的人

例句

Linda，my blossom，you needn’t say anything.

琳达，我的美人儿，你不必说什么了。

可以用来形容人变得更.../形容一段关系更好

1.比如可以说使人变得更有魅力，更成功，更自信

例句

she has visibly blossomed over the last few months.

他近几个月来身体明显好多了。

2.好的感觉或关系深入发展，增强

Their friendship blossomed into love.

他们的友谊发展成了爱情。

开花

in full bloom/blossom 正开着花

树木，花草，园子四处都盛开着花，用来形容鲜花盛开， 花团锦簇的景象。

例句

These plants are very fragrant when they are in full bloom.

这些植物在花朵盛开时花香浓郁。

💡这里还可以拓展一些短语：

come into bloom/blossom 开花

除了 in full bloom/blossom，还有 come into bloom/blossom的形式表示开花尤其指植物 开始绽放。

例句

All roses come into bloom at this time of the year.

所有玫瑰都在每年的这个时间开始绽放。

blossom out 开花

这里只能说blossom out而不能说成bloom out，因为bloom out是起霜和风化的意思，可以说成bloom from the inside out 由内而外的绽放。

例句

Blossom out with the flowers, grow up with the sapling.

与花儿一同开放，和小树一起成长。

💡这里对 blossom也拓展一个短语

blossom but bear no fruit：华而不实

只开花不结果，没有什么实际用途，因此就是华而不实的。

💡除了 flower，bloom，blossom表示开花之外，还有以下两个词语带有花开的意思：

abloom 开满花的

All the dreamy blossoms been abloom.

所有梦想都开花

anthesis 开花期

繁荣，盛开

💡先来看 flourish和thrive，它们都可指生物发育好, flourish用以指植物,强调枝叶茂密或花果累累, thrive既可指植物,也可指动物和人。

flourish 兴旺，繁盛

A tree planted in bad conditions will not flourish, just as a child brought up in a bad environment will not flourish.

一颗种植在恶劣环境中得树不会茂盛，就像一个成长在糟糕环境中得小孩不会富足。

in full flourish 在全盛时，盛极一时

a flourish of trumpets 大肆宣扬

thrive 繁荣，兴旺

As the Han people emigrated from the city center to the city outside the front door business district began to thrive.

随着汉族居民从市中心移居到城市外部，前门商业区开始兴盛起来。

💡flourish, thrive和prosper都可以表示为某方面兴旺发达, 但flourish和thrive是强调在某事业上如文化、艺术、科学、体育或某行业上兴旺发达，而prosper则是强调在经济上的兴旺发达。

prosper 繁盛

He hopes his business will prosper.

他希望自己生意兴隆。
