贾佩琳深耕于中英文文化领域四十余年，曾为《霸王别姬》《梅兰芳》《英雄》《东邪西毒》《悲情城市》等中文影片完成英文字幕翻译工作。

In order to accurately convey the glamour of Tang poetry and better translate the cultural context embedded in the dialogue, the production team invited Linda Jaivin, an Australian sinologist, to assist with the translation process.

经典唐诗英译有多惊艳

从李白的这首诗便可见一斑

那么英译唐诗究竟美在哪里呢

2006年，一个名为“地铁上的诗歌”的国际文化活动在英国伦敦启动。被译成英文的中国唐诗出现在有着140多年历史的伦敦地铁上。伦敦市民和游客在地铁上读到了李白、杜甫、白居易等中国诗人的诗歌。这些唐诗以中国书法的形式，配上英文翻译，传递给了西方世界，让外国人欣赏到了古诗之美。

英译唐诗是用英语重塑唐诗的美态，不但要保留唐诗动人的特质，同时又要忠实的译出其原意。

北京大学许渊冲教授说：（英文）翻译就是把一个国家创造的美，转化为全世界（能欣赏）的美！

唐诗是我国古诗词的经典代表。但在诗歌翻译中，要保留其音韵、形式和意象绝非易事。对此，许渊冲教授提出了著名的“三美”论。他说“译诗不但要传达原诗的形美，还要尽可能传达它的音美和形美”。

只有把握“音韵美”的铿锵节奏和柔媚姿态，才能实现“三美”的浑然天成，达到“诗中有画，画中有诗”的意境和神韵。

宝安中学高中部袁小林老师从2010年开始进行唐诗英译研究，在校开设同名校本课，并连续两年在深圳大学为全市中小学老师讲授“唐诗英译欣赏”课。该书精选103首脍炙人口的唐诗，除作者的原创英译文外，还遴选了国内外60多名翻译家或翻译爱好者的唐诗英译文，用英语重塑唐诗的美态。

英译唐诗兼具形美与音美

《经典唐诗英译欣赏》分为8个板块——山水诗、咏物诗、叙事诗、抒情诗、边塞诗、送别诗、咏怀诗、儿童诗。每首诗均配有中文解读，白话译文，2至3种英译文，不同译文的特点、含义、意境和艺术性分析，英文词汇、语法、句型结构讲解。该书语言通俗易懂，不仅适合热爱唐诗和英文的学生阅读，也适合学习中文的外国人阅读，力求在赏析中渗透文学和文化意识，帮助读者在潜移默化中提升古典文学素养、人文修养与审美能力。

诗歌翻译要保留其音韵、形式和意象绝非易事。唐诗英译最早主要由来华外国人所作，近代开始才有中国学者主动将唐诗翻译成英文。例如《登鹳雀楼》《江雪》等唐诗的英文译本就有几十种，都在努力用英文表达唐诗的意境。在袁小林编著的书中，王维的《相思》一诗有3个译本，分别用3种方式翻译了表达相思之情的“红豆”，分别是“red beans”“love peas”“love seeds”；唐诗中常见的“二月花”被译成“the second month's flowers”“February flowers”“spring flowers”。“译诗不但要传达原诗的形美，还要尽可能传达它的音美。”袁小林说。

让学生在英语课堂邂逅唐诗

从教32年的袁小林在英语教学中不愿拘泥于教材，广告词、诗歌词、流行语都是他课上的语法例句。“12年前，英国伦敦地铁广告牌出现中英文唐诗的新闻，给了我很大启发，原来唐诗也可以从英文角度学习和欣赏。”袁小林说，热爱唐诗的他于是开始进行唐诗英译的校本课程探索，2014年正式开讲“唐诗英译欣赏”课，受到学生的欢迎。3年前，“唐诗英译欣赏”成为市中小学教师继续教育专业课程，袁小林为全市教师讲授该课。期间，很多教师朋友建议他将此课编写成书出版，让更多的人欣赏唐诗的英译。在编著该书的过程中，袁小林不仅得到了学校的大力支持，还获得著名文学翻译家、北京大学教授许渊冲先生的指导。

“（这个课程）一般只会出现在大学的翻译课堂上。然而，它却真实地出现在深圳一所中学的教室里。”华南师范大学外文学院教授朱晓燕在该书序中，评价袁小林是一位爱诗的、有情趣的、有创新思维的中学英语教师。
