Mayer Brown has won two awards at the Asian Legal Business (ALB) Hong Kong Law Awards 2020. The firm was named "Insurance Law Firm of the Year" for the ninth time and "Restructuring & Insolvency Law Firm of the Year" for the 12th time  ALB Inaugural Trailblazers 2020 rankings

Asset-Backed Alert's Year-End Report

Mayer Brown's Structured Finance group finished first for the third consecutive year in both value and number of asset-backed securities/mortgage-backed securities (ABS/MBS) issuer counsel deals in Asset-Backed Alert's year-end report, with 108 deals valued totaling more than $68 billion. The group also ranked seventh for US collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) in which it represented the underwriter, ninth for CLOs in which it represented the issuer and fourth for ABS/MBS deals in which it represented the underwriter.

Chambers Asia

The 2019 edition of Chambers Asia Pacific ranked Mayer Brown in 32 practice categories, up from 29 last year. The 2019 guide includes five Band One rankings for Mayer Brown. The new chambers edition also recognized 44 Mayer Brown lawyers with 60 total rankings, including two lawyers who were designated as "Senior Statesmen" and another six lawyers who achieved Band One rankings.

Mayer Brown earned a 100-percent score on the 2019 Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the ninth consecutive year. The following criteria were rated: LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. By satisfying all the criteria, Mayer Brown also earned the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

IFLR1000 Specialist Guide 2019

Mayer Brown has been included in the IFLR1000 Specialist Guide 2019, which identified and profiled just 50 law firms globally with areas of focus in the law that are rare in the markets in which they operate. The law firms were selected among thousands through an extensive research and interview process. Mayer Brown was the only law firm in Hong Kong selected for high-yield bonds. IFLR Asia Awards 2019

Mayer Brown has won the "Deal of the Year for Project Finance" award at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Asia Awards 2018 for advising on the Jawa-1 project, a major 1.76GW combined-cycle gas-fired power plant in West Java, Indonesia. The award was announced on March 7.

International Tax Review's 14th Annual Americas Tax Awards

IFLR Asia Awards 2018

Mayer Brown JSM has won the “High Yield Deal of the Year” award at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Asia Awards 2018. The firm was recognized for its work advising PT Indika Energy Tbk on its 5.875% senior notes transaction to increase its stake in PT Kideco Jaya Agung, Indonesia’s third-largest coal mine, to take majority ownership.

Mayer Brown and Tauil & Chequer Advogados (T&C) advised GE Capital on a transaction that was named the winner in two categories by LatinFinance in its 2018 Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards. The annual awards honor "the most impressive transactions and institutions in a field critical to the region's economic progress." In the winning transaction, Mayer Brown and T&C lawyers represented GE Capital as a credit supporter for the Porto de Sergipe I liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant arranged by Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe (CELSE).

For the fifth consecutive year, Mayer Brown and Tauil & Chequer have been named Recommended Firms in Latin Lawyer 250, a guide to the region’s leading business law firms. In the 2018 edition, Mayer Brown was listed as a Recommended Firm in the International Law Firm category. Tauil & Chequer was listed as a Recommended Firm in the Brazil Law Firm category.

Managing IP's 2018 World IP Handbook and Survey

Mayer Brown announced that 11 partners across four of the firm’s global offices were recognized as “IP Stars” in the 2018 edition of Managing Intellectual Property’s “World IP Handbook and Survey,” an annual analysis of the IP market. The lawyers were nominated by their peers and clients, and final inclusion was based on extensive research, including surveys and interviews with IP professionals conducted by the publication. Asset-Backed Alert's Year-end Report Mayer Brown's Structured Finance group finished first for the second consecutive year in both value and number of asset-backed securities/mortgage-backed securities (ABS/MBS) issuer counsel deals in Asset-Backed Alert's year-end report, with 72 deals valued at a total of $49.65 billion. The group also tied for second for collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) where it represented the issuer and finished third for ABS/MBS deals in which it represented the underwriter.

Benchmark Litigation 2017 Benchmark Litigation 2017 ranked Mayer Brown in the national Antitrust and Appellate categories. In addition, 10 of the firm’s lawyers were ranked as “National Litigation Stars” in their practice categories. Mayer Brown also was “Highly Recommended” in Illinois and Washington DC and “Recommended” in Texas. Bonds and Loans Latin America Awards Mayer Brown advised on the transaction that was named "Project Finance Deal of the Year" at GFC Media Group's Bonds & Loans Latin America Deals of the Year awards, which "recognizes outstanding deals from across Latin American credit markets in 2017." Mayer Brown represented the noteholders on the private placement of approximately $135.8 million in investment-grade rated project bonds issued to partially refinance the 70-megawatt Campo Palomas wind energy project in Uruguay.

Bonds and Loans Turkey Awards Mayer Brown advised on Vakıflar's first Reg S offering of €500 million under its residential mortgage-backed covered bond programme that was named International Bond Deal of the Year and Financial Institutions Financing Deal of the Year at the Bonds and Loans Turkey Awards 2017.

Décideurs (Decision Makers) Annual Trophées du Droit (Law Trophies) Two Mayer Brown practices have been recognized by leading French legal magazine Décideurs (Decision Makers) in its annual Trophées du Droit (Law Trophies) series for their handling of highly complex matters in 2017. Lord Mayor's Dragon Award Mayer Brown won the Inclusive Employment Award for its pioneering partnership with London refugee charity Breaking Barriers at the annual Lord Mayor's Dragon Awards in London on September 26. The award recognizes the Firm’s work on the launch of Breaking Barriers’ innovative Employment Academy dedicated to providing skills training and employment opportunities for refugees in the United Kingdom. Legaltech News and The Recorder’s joint Innovation Awards Pro Bono Innovators of the Year Mayer Brown and client Caterpillar Inc. were named 2016 Pro Bono Innovators of the Year in Legaltech News and The Recorder’s joint Innovation Awards for their work on the Forced Marriage Project for Tahirih Justice Center, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting immigrant women and girls from gender-based violence. In Asia, Europe and the Americas, more than 80 Mayer Brown and Caterpillar lawyers spent roughly 3,500 hours researching laws in 25 countries related to marriage, dissolution of marriage and domestic violence. Tahirih used the research to launch PreventForcedMarriage.org, a web site with an interactive map providing information on each country, designed to help public service organizations and lawyers who may be contacted by victims. The web site also provides emergency contact information to potential victims. Since its launch in February 2015, the web site has received over 6,720 visitors and 15,430 views.

Property Week Awards Deal of the Year 2016 Mayer Brown’s transaction advising Sinarmas Land Limited, one of Southeast Asia’s largest property development companies, on the purchase of the Alphabeta building was named Deal of the Year by Property Week Awards. The landmark building in London was purchased from Resolution Property in October 2015 for more than £250 million and marked the largest single-asset acquisition for Sinarmas Land to date.

International M&A Awards 2015 Cross Border Restructuring Deal of the Year Mayer Brown advised on the US $1.2 billion restructuring and sale of ATP Oil & Gas (UK) Limited, which was named Cross Border Restructuring Deal of the Year at the 7th annual International M&A Awards 2015. The transaction was lengthy and complex. ATP UK's parent company, ATP Oil & Gas Corporation, went through a Chapter 11 insolvency process in the United States. As part of the bankruptcy proceedings, the sale of the UK subsidiary was approved by the US Bankruptcy Court in December 2013. The transaction itself was implemented through the sale of the shares of ATP UK combined with a company voluntary arrangement, with a sale value of $133 million, and was completed in February 2014. 

International Tax Review Top Tax Awards Mayer Brown was named “North America Tax Disputes Firm of the Year” at the 2015 Americas Tax Awards sponsored by International Tax Review. The firm also advised on the “Americas Technology and Telecommunications Tax Deal of the Year” - Altice’s acquisition of Suddenlink.

PERE Awards 2015 Private equity real estate magazine PERE has named Mayer Brown “Asia Law Firm of the Year” in the Transactions category of the 2015 Global PERE Awards. This is the third consecutive year in which the Mayer Brown has won the award. The latest recognition was given for Mayer Brown’s work advising on various major real estate transactions in 2015, including the sale of InterContinental Hong Kong. The US$938 million transaction was one of the largest hospitality deals in Asia.

The National Law Journal Appellate Hot List For the eighth consecutive year, Mayer Brown was named to The National Law Journal's "Appellate Hot List."

Seatrade Maritime Awards Asia - Ship Finance Award 2015 Mayer Brown won the Ship Finance Award at the 8th Seatrade Maritime Awards Asia organised by Seatrade, the first for the firm. This recognition further reaffirms Mayer Brown’s reputation as the predominant law firm for shipping finance in the region.

WTR 1000 Awards Hong Kong IP Practice Top Ranking 2015 The 2015 edition of World Trademark Review 1000, a guide to the leading trademark professionals in 70 key jurisdictions worldwide, ranked Mayer Brown’s IP practice in the top tier for Hong Kong, stepping up from the second tier last year. The WTR 1000 is published by World Trademark Review, an independent daily news and information service dedicated to reporting on trademark issues for in-house and private practitioners internationally.

American Lawyer Global Legal Awards Mayer Brown advised on the transaction that The American Lawyer named “Global Finance Deal of the Year: Capital Markets (Worldwide)” as part of its second annual Global Legal Awards, which honor legal teams that “played a substantial role in the most distinguished cross-border work performed between Jan. 1, 2013, and April 14, 2014, across a wide range of disciplines,” according to the publication.

Airfinance Journal Deal of the Year winner The $450 million securitization of airline ticket receivables of the LATAM Airlines Group S.A. was named “Deal of the Year” for 2013 in the South America category of the annual Airfinance Journal Deal of the Year Awards. Mayer Brown represented the underwriters on the Rule 144A/Regulation S bond offering. The transaction marks the first securitization of airline ticket receivables in Latin America since 2002. Chile-based LATAM Latin Airlines Group is Latin America’s largest airline and one of the largest airlines in the world in terms of passengers and cargo transported.

Asian-MENA Counsel Deal of the Year 2014 Project Finance Deal of the Year, Toyo-Thai Corp Power Plant Myanmar Mayer Brown advised Toyo Thai on all aspects of the development and financing of the Ahlone 121MW combined-cycle gas-fired power project in Yangon – named one of Asian-MENA Counsel’s Deals of the Year 2014. We redrafted Myanmar’s standard PPA as part of our scope of work on this project.

Asian-MENA Counsel’s In-House Community Firm of the Year 2014 Mayer Brown has been named ASIAN-MENA COUNSEL’s “In-House Community Firm of the Year 2014” in two practice categories: Hong Kong - Real Estate / Construction, and Vietnam - Restructuring & Insolvency. The Asian Lawyer Awards 2014 Mayer Brown has received two awards at the inaugural Asian Lawyer All-Star Legal Awards 2014: the firm’s Real Estate practice received the All Star Award for Real Estate, while partner Nathan Dodd was named an individual All-Star for Infrastructure.

Asian Legal Business Law Firm of the Year In the ALB 2014 Hong Kong Law Awards sponsored by Asian Legal Business, Mayer Brown was named “Law Firm of the Year” in three categories: Real Estate, Insolvency & Restructuring and Insurance.

Benchmark Litigation 2014 Benchmark Litigation 2014 ranked Mayer Brown in the national Antitrust, Appellate and General Commercial categories. In addition, eight of the firm’s lawyers were ranked as “National Litigation Stars” in their practice categories. Mayer Brown also was “Highly Recommended” in Illinois and Washington DC and “Recommended” in Texas. Additionally, 16 Mayer Brown lawyers were ranked as “Local Litigation Stars” or “Future Stars.”

BTI Brand Elite 2014 Mayer Brown is ranked sixth among the 26 law firms with a substantially better brand than all other law firms in the BTI Brand Elite 2014: Client Perceptions of the Best-Branded Law Firms. In last year’s report, Mayer Brown was ranked 12th. Published by The BTI Consulting Group, the BTI Brand Elite 2014 is based on feedback from more than 300 interviews with in-house counsel at the world’s largest organizations that measured “top-of-mind recognition” of nearly 450 law firms. The BTI Brand Elite 2014 also ranked Mayer Brown as a “Best Brand Builder,” one of only 19 firms with outstanding upward trajectory in brand out of the 650 law firms serving large clients.

Chambers Asia Pacific 2014 The 2014 edition of Chambers Asia-Pacific ranked 41 Mayer Brown lawyers with 54 total rankings in 31 geographic and/or practice categories, including 12 lawyers who achieved 16 Band One or higher rankings.

Chambers Global 2014 The 2014 edition of Chambers Global recognized 96 Mayer Brown lawyers with 137 total rankings or listings in 78 geographic and/or practice categories, including 22 lawyers who achieved a total of 25 Band One or higher rankings in 20 categories. The 2014 edition also ranked or listed Mayer Brown in 77 categories in 14 geographic regions. Chambers UK 2014 The 2014 edition of Chambers UK ranked Mayer Brown in 34 categories with six being ranked Band One. Chambers UK also ranked 52 Mayer Brown lawyers in 29 categories, including eight lawyers who achieved Band One or higher rankings.

Chambers USA 2014 The 2014 edition of Chambers USA recognized 136 Mayer Brown lawyers with 161 total rankings in 78 practice categories, including 32 lawyers who achieved a total of 40 top-band or higher rankings.

Chinese Business Law Awards 2014 Mayer Brown was named the winner of China Business Law Journal’s 2014 China Business Law Awards in the Competition & Antitrust category.

Equality Illinois names Mayer Brown one of state’s most LGBT-friendly firms Mayer Brown has been recognized for the third consecutive year for its commitment to diversity by Equality Illinois in its annual Raising the Bar report. The 2014 report lists 41 Illinois firms that are “leading the way in providing a welcoming and fair work environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees and engaging with the LGBT community,” Equality Illinois said. 

Financial Times Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Report 2014 Mayer Brown has been ranked 16th among internationally headquartered firms in the inaugural edition of the Financial Times Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Report. Financial Times says its Innovative Lawyers Reports recognize law firms “that have brought original thinking and practices to business issues.”

The firm is also “Highly Commended” in the "International strategy " category for its Mayer Brown and Johnson Stokes & Master combination, which “created a new global player in the region.” 

Global Arbitration Review GAR 100 2014 Mayer Brown is recognized in the 2014 edition of Global Arbitration Review's GAR 100, an annual guide to the world’s leading specialist arbitration firms. Firm’s were selected on the basis of their reputation, experience and recent work.

GlobalCapital Best Law Firm for ABS Mayer Brown was named “Best Law Firm” in the Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) category of GlobalCapital’s Securitization Milestones Awards. The firms receiving awards were decided by a market-wide poll “for their commitment to the product and dedication to revitalizing the market in the wake of the crisis.” 

Global Competition Review GCR 100 2014 Mayer Brown is ranked in four jurisdictions in the 2014 edition of the GCR 100, an annual guide to the world’s leading competition law practices that is published by Global Competition Review.

Global M&A Network 2014 Turnaround Atlas Awards Energy & Services Turnaround of the Year Mayer Brown advised on the transaction named “Energy & Services Turnaround of the Year” by Global M&A Network at its 2014 Turnaround Atlas Awards, which honor excellence from the restructuring and turnaround communities worldwide. Winning transactions were selected in 50 restructuring/turnaround awards categories, based on criteria such as number of creditors, jurisdiction, pre/post workout, sustainability, operational/client/HR metrics, timeliness, leadership and resourcefulness.

Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index 2014 Mayer Brown received a perfect score in the 2014 Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) and earned the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” distinction. The CEI serves as a tool to rate American businesses on their treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees and their families as well as their demonstration of corporate commitment to LGBT equality.

IAM Patent 1000 The 2014 edition of the IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals has ranked Mayer Brown in five categories: International, Hong Kong Litigation and Transactions, Illinois Litigation, New York Litigation and Washington DC Litigation. 

IFLR1000 2014 The 2014 edition of IFLR1000, a guide to the world’s leading financial law firms, ranked Mayer Brown in 55 categories, including 12 top-tier rankings. Tauil & Chequer was ranked in three categories and had three partners listed as “Leading Lawyers.” 

IFLR Americas Awards 2014 International Financial Law Review (IFLR) named Mayer Brown the “Structured Finance and Securitization Team of the Year” at the 2014 IFLR Americas Awards. The awards recognize teams that display “legal innovation” and that “break new legal ground and set market precedents.”

IFLR Asia Awards 2014 IFLR Asia Awards: Restructuring Deal of the Year – Mayer Brown advised the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) on its application to the High Court in the UK for sanction of a scheme of arrangement with creditors pursuant to a US $600 million facility, the first time that a Vietnamese company has made use of an English scheme of arrangement as a restructuring tool;

IJG Global Latin American Transmission Deal of the Year Mayer Brown advised on the transaction named “Latin American Transmission Deal of the Year” by IJGlobal at its 2014 Americas Awards, which recognize “excellence, achievement and innovation in energy and infrastructure finance” during the past year. The project bond for Abengoa Transmisión Sur (ATS) was the winning transaction.

International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Energy & Infrastructure Asia Pacific Guide The inaugural edition of the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Energy & Infrastructure Asia Pacific Guide has identified Mayer Brown as a leading firm in five jurisdictions.

Infrastructure Investor North America Law Firm of the Year Mayer Brown has been named by Infrastructure Investor as the 2014 “North America Law Firm of the Year” in the publication’s annual Infrastructure Investor Awards, which recognize “luminaries of the infrastructure asset class.”

International Tax Review Americas Tax Awards 2014 Mayer Brown received four top awards at the annual Americas Tax Awards sponsored by International Tax Review. The firm was honored in the following categories: Chicago Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year; Dallas/Houston Tax Firm of the Year; San Francisco Area Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year; and Americas Capital Markets Tax Deal of the Year – High-Yield Issuance by Linea Amarilla.

International Tax Review World Tax 2014 Guide International Tax Review ranked Mayer Brown’s global Tax practice in eight jurisdictions in “World Tax 2014,” a comprehensive guide to the world’s leading tax firms.

Juve Handbook 2014/2015 The Juve Handbook 2014/2015, the most prestigious ranking of law firms and lawyers in Germany, lists 15 Mayer Brown lawyers as “Frequently Recommended” by clients.

LatinFinance Restructuring of the Year 2014 LatinFinance has named the Lupatech restructuring by Tauil & Chequer in association with Mayer Brown the “Restructuring of the Year 2014” in the publication’s 2014 Deals of the Year Awards. Lawyers in Brazil represented The Bank of New York Mellon as trustee and agent for a perpetual bond. Upon the court confirmation of a prepack plan in Brazil and a Chapter 15 proceeding in the US, Lupatech managed to restructure $507 million of its debt, including the perpetual bond. Lupatech is the first large case in Brazil to use a prepack plan.

Latin Lawyer 250 2014 Mayer Brown and Tauil & Chequer Advogados have been named “Recommended Firms” in the 2014 edition of the Latin Lawyer 250, the definitive guide to the leading business law firms of Latin America. Mayer Brown was listed as a “Recommended Firm” in the International law firm category. Tauil & Chequer Advogados was listed as a “Recommended Firm” in the Brazil law firm category.

Latin Lawyer Survey 2014 Latin Lawyer recognized Mayer Brown’s global Projects group as “Highly Regarded” in a survey profiling “the leading international firms with the necessary experience and knowledge” to advise lenders and sponsors on increasingly complex transactions in Latin America’s project finance sphere.

Law360 Global 20 firm For the fourth consecutive year, Mayer Brown has been selected by Law360 as a “Global 20” firm. The list recognizes the 20 law firms that had “the biggest global presence and handled the most large, significant and groundbreaking international and cross-border matters over the past year,” according to the publication. Mayer Brown has been ranked every year since the list’s inception.

Law360 Practice Group of the Year in Banking, Product Liability and Project Finance Mayer Brown has been named by Law360 as a “Practice Group of the Year” for 2014 in the Banking, Product Liability and Project Finance categories. The award recognizes law firms “that came through for their clients in 2014, sealing the big deals and winning the high-stakes suits.”

Le Magazine des Affaires Le Magazine des Affaires, a leading legal industry publication in France, has awarded the Paris Tax Transactions & Consulting practice a number one ranking in the M&A Structuring and LBO Structuring categories for 2014. The publication highlighted the team’s work on Altice Numericable’s €13.5 billion acquisition of SFR and Altice’s €7 billion acquisition of Portugal Telecom.

The National Law Journal Chicago Litigation Department of the Year: Mass Torts/Class Actions Mayer Brown has been named by The National Law Journal (NLJ) as the “Chicago Litigation Department of the Year: Mass Torts/Class Actions.” In its special report, the NLJ’s editorial team evaluated Chicago-based litigation practices on several criteria, including notable wins, operations, headcounts and revenues.

Option Droit & Affaires (Option Finance) 2014 Option Droit & Affaires (Option Finance), a leading legal publication in France, has recognized the private equity work of Mayer Brown partners in Paris with rankings in three categories including a 5-star (top) ranking for their work on mid-cap transactions (€50 to 200 million).

Partnerships Bulletin and PPP Bulletin International Partnerships Awards Best Legal Adviser Mayer Brown won the Silver Award in the “Best Legal Adviser” category of the Partnerships Awards 2014, an annual awards series hosted by Partnerships Bulletin and PPP Bulletin International that recognizes outstanding contributions to the forward progress of public-private partnerships (PPPs) around the globe. The “Best Legal Adviser” category honors excellence among legal advisers in the delivery of PPP projects and programs in 2013. 

P3 Bulletin Best Legal Advisor 2014 Mayer Brown has been named as a finalist in the “Best Legal Advisor” category of the P3 Awards 2014, an inaugural awards series hosted by P3 Bulletin that recognizes innovation in public infrastructure projects using private finance across Canada, the United States and Latin America.

PERE Asia Law Firm of the Year for Transactions 2014 Leading private equity real estate magazine PERE has named Mayer Brown “Asia Law Firm of the Year” in the Transactions category of the 2014 Global PERE Awards. This is the second consecutive year that Mayer Brown has won the award. The Real Estate practice was recognized for advising on private equity real estate deals worth more than $4.8 billion in Asia and for “[getting] in on the cross-border action too, advising several Chinese insurance companies towards making overseas real estate acquisitions.”

Project Finance International Americas Bond Deal of the Year Mayer Brown provided counsel on the Abengoa Transmisión Sur (ATS) transaction, which was named the 2014 “Americas Bond Deal of the Year” by Project Finance International (PFI) as part of the publication’s annual PFI Awards. The awards recognize deal innovation, best practice, problem solving, risk mitigation, value for money and speed of delivery in the financing of infrastructure projects. Project Finance International Asia Pacific Petrochemical Deal of the Year Mayer Brown was counsel on Project Finance International’s Asia Pacific Petrochemical Deal of the Year. Mayer Brown advised the lenders, led by the International Financial Corporation, on the US $800 million development of a greenfield PAU ammonia project in Sulawesi, Indonesia. This is one of the most prominent project financing projects to sign in 2014 in the Asia-Pacific region. It is the first ammonia plant in Sulawesi and the only ammonia project in the region to specifically target the Asia-Pacific market. It is also the first locally sponsored privately owned ammonia plant in the country. Project Finance International Europe Refinancing Deal of the Year Mayer Brown advised Budapest Airport on its comprehensive refinancing in a matter that won Project Finance International's “Europe Refinancing Deal of the Year.” As one of the largest-ever refinancings to take place in Hungary, the complex €1.4 billion refinancing of Budapest Airport included a unique financing structure, which involved deleveraging the senior debt by putting a €300 million junior facility in place, a €1.1 billion five-year senior term loan and a €1.1 billion swaps arrangement to match the liabilities of the new debt facilities. Mayer Brown worked alongside financial advisor Rothschild, as well as a large and diverse group of investors in the complicated process. Tahirih Justice Center Honors Mayer Brown for Forced Marriage Research Tahirih Justice Center has named Mayer Brown and Caterpillar Inc. the nonprofit’s 2014 “Corporate Partners of the Year” for investing more than 3,500 pro bono hours researching forced marriage. Mayer Brown and Caterpillar examined laws, conditions and customs in 24 countries that may be contributing to the problem of women and girls being forced into marriage without their consent. Tahirih says the research “is already having a lifesaving impact, helping [people] from the US who are facing high-stakes forced marriage situations overseas find safety, dignity, and freedom.” Summaries of the research are available via an interactive map on Tahirih’s website. Tahirih Justice Center is a nonprofit organization that works to protect immigrant women and girls from gender-based violence through legal services, advocacy and public education programs.

Trading Risk Transaction of the Year (Non-Life) Mayer Brown advised the issuer on the transaction named 2014 “Transaction of the Year (Non-Life)” by Trading Risk at its annual awards ceremony, which acknowledges exceptional work in the (re)insurance convergence market. Five insurance-linked securities transactions completed in the last year were nominated for this award. Mayer Brown advised on four of the five nominated transactions. 

US News Best Law Firms 2014 Mayer Brown was once again one of the top-performing law firms in the annual ranking of “Best Law Firms” by US News/Best Lawyers, with 36 national tier one rankings and 89 metropolitan tier one rankings. Overall, the firm was ranked in 187 national and metropolitan categories. In addition, Mayer Brown was named “Firm of the Year” in the Appellate Law category for the second consecutive year.

Vietnam Investment Review M&A Advisory Firm of the Year Mayer Brown was named “M&A Advisory Firm 2013-2014” at the Vietnam M&A Forum 2014, an event organized by the Vietnam Investment Review and AVM Vietnam and supported by the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment. 

2014 Pro Bono Partner Law Firm of the Year The National Pro Bono Committee of the AT&T Legal Department has named Mayer Brown the inaugural winner of the “AT&T Pro Bono Partner Law Firm of the Year” award. The Firm was selected among the regional and national firms that, in addition to representing AT&T in legal matters, help further its pro bono programs and efforts. “AT&T lawyers know that we can work with and depend on the involvement of Mayer Brown attorneys—whether it’s a Saturday morning Wills for Heroes event, a DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration] clinic, or the highly complex, very demanding immigration asylum cases we have most recently embarked upon in joint representations,” said AT&T General Attorney John J.
